He had a great year at 39, which is an ancient age for his weight class. Beat unbeten champion and unbeaten top contender. Both by knockouts I still think Usyk win over AJ should give him the nod, but Donaire's accomplishements are comapable to Canelo's. I think Oubaali is better fighter for his weight than BJS in SMW division and Gaballo is better than Plant (he clearly has better resume). As for Yildyrym - it was a joke defense against C-level opponent
Honestly, if he can squeeze in a fight with casimero before he retires, he would be propelled into the top echelon of boxers in the sport. Win or lose, that fight is about who's the man at bantam in terms of an all Filipino showdown.
Gaballo had better resume than Plant. Oubali isn't great fighter but he is solid. BJS isn't and never was great as well. He is just a solid fighter, nothing more than that. Especially in SMW division. Canelo was owerwhelming favorit against Saunders and Plant. Donaire was slight underdog against Oubaali and moderate favorite against Gaballo
Based on beating discount Inoue and let-down Warren? At least BJS was a top contender SMW and a champ for many years. You can do this statistically, take the records of their opponents total wins vs losses. Or you can just do it by resume, wins over Murray, Eubank, Lee, Lemieux, Monroe - trumps all the wins on Oubalis record.
