Donald Cerrone, Melvin Guillard Signed For Co-Main Event Of UFC 150

If you don't know, then why say anything about his ground game? Why not ask people if he as a good ground game instead of stating that he doesn't.

I think there's a really good chance that he subs Guillard in this one.

 

Cerrone drops him and takes his neck. Cerrone is a master of hurting people on the feet and following up with a submission, and that is poison for Guillard. I imagine it will look something like Cerrone/Siver.

Does the UFC need Cerrone to win for a ratings boost? I can't think of a more favorable match-up.

Ive got mixed feelings about Guillards performance at the weekend , was it a laboured performance from a fighter now looking huge for LW and maybe be struggling a bit to get down , or was it a calculated controlled performance against a dangerous boxer grappler ???

Guillard at his fast explosive best wipes the floor with Cerrone IMHO , Cerrone has a terrible habit of leaving his chin out to dry and moves back in a straight line , he's very upright due to his MT background and Guillard will probably find his chin with a left hook either as he presses , or as Cerrone throws a leg kick , either way i see Cerrone being KO'd here

But ................... if Guillard is on the slide , Cerrone could take advantage of this with his work rate , as long as he outworks Guillard he gives himself a chance , a lot like people are now doing with Thiago Alves , once a beast who is a yard slower nowadays

 

Guillard is the losing side of my favourite grudge match of all time. His fight with Clementi was great.

To expand even if you have not seen a lot of Cerrone, he has loads of subs. How you can think he has no ground game is beyond me even if you were just to look at his record....

To me this fight is a really tough one to call because it could go different ways. While Cerrone does have good hands they are not as good as Melvin's are and they arent nearly as fast. Cerrone as Winfella mentioned does leave his chin up and moves back straight and agianst an explosive guy like Melvin it could get him in seriously trouble. Cerrone has an excellent chin but everyone can be KOed and Cerrone is no different. One thing that does give Cerrone the advantage striking though is his kicks. Cerrone should have a reach advantage already and if he committs to the leg kicks like he did in his bout vs Jeremy Stephens then Melvin will have a difficult time closing that distance and he will lose alot of his mobility and speed. So if Cerrone fights as intelligent as he can then he should be able to win this on his feet.

However if this isnt working and he wants to get Guillard down and work his submission game it might not be all that easy. Cerrone has improved his wrestling drastically in the last 2 years or so but Melvin is not an easy guy to take down especially when he is at his most confident.

Looking forward to this fight either way it should be damn good.
