Pretty routine TD a minute in.

Northcutt stoops over and drops a nice standing tomahawk right on the grounded Frenchman, stunning him on his back for a moment, unable to finish with GnP.

Moments later, on their feet, Gouti lands a lead right hand BOMB on Northcutt, then up against the cage they go with a tight guillotine locked in.

Northcutt lifts a quick knee into Gouti's face to escape the octagon.

Spinning back-kick attempt by the young Texan karateka.

Northcutt has a nasty cut on his right eye.

Gouti stuffs a double leg attempt near the end.

Good ****, they're well-matched and the styles are meshing nicely.

Round 2

Northcutt tries a lazy single leg, Gouti swats it away. Gouti landing nice pot shots at mid-range. Left hook by Northcutt. Gouti takes him down and vacillates between going for side control or mount. Northcutt scoots himself up against the cage and sits up, hammering Gouti's back with elbows, a few warnings from the ref for drilling those elbows too near the spine. Northcutt able to leverage himself off the fence and get to his feet, even with Gouti attached to him. Gouti throws his shoulder into Northcutt's midsection and bears down, forcing him to sit again. Northcutt tries rising but Gouti simply clasps both hands around one thigh and physically drags him onto the mat. Gouti locks his wrists behind the knees and keeps Northcutt pinned in a seated position. Northcutt able to slowly rise into a deep squat and works some elbows and forearms on the side of the head. Ref comes in for a break. Gouti misses a couple of lead rights and left hooks and Northcutt blasts him with a hard counter right. Northcutt switches to southpaw and takes a high left front kick in the chest, returning to orthodox and circling away. Gouti dodges a spinning heel kick.

Yeah, the cuts alone seem to be giving him second thoughts about his chosen profession.

He isn't doing badly in there, clearly has a bit of talent, but he is wearing a constant grimace.

 

WTF did the ref stop there for he kicked him in the eye

 

Well even in boxing a knockdown isn't automatically 10-8 for the guy that scored it. You can dominate a round and salvage it from becoming a 2-point swing even if you get dropped. (regardless of whether a hard or flash KD)

 

Round 3

Northcutt lands a head kick and Gouti might've been toed in the eye. Ref gives him a moment to recover. They paw at each other a while, until Gouti applies the bear-hug around Northcutt's abdomen to score another take-down. Gouti lets him up and takes an elbow, then a flying knee. Combos outside by Northcutt, and then his own TD attempt, stuffed. Gouti has Northcutt in the "about to jackknife power-bomb your ass" position (not sure what they call that in MMA). They both throw some bombs just before the horn and deflect each other, nothing clean.

Hope you are right I thought Northcutt lost the 1st 2 rounds
