Curry just probably misses the cut, but with the way thing are, he'll probably make it.Bruce will too.

As for Don, well look at the standards the IBHOF has, if McGuigan is in there, on his resume, then The Cobra should be a lock.

Flippancy aside, if half a dozen fighters go in every year, sooner or later, Curry, unlike some, should get in there on merit.

[EDIT] LOL, looking back on the thread, it seems I was not the first to bring the Clones Cyclone into the argument![EDIT]

If "McGuigan, Norton, Cuevas , Ingo Johansson and Palomino" can make the grade, well, so can Donald Curry in my book...

Curry's welterweight accomplishments are enough to convince me, and winning the WBC title at 154 from Giafranco Rosi in 1988 is just added icing on the cake...

BUT! Losses to "Jacquot, Nunn and Norris" afterward haunt his legacy dearly...

Poor Barry McGuigan's name is always the first name to be brought up as an example of questionable inductions into the IBHOF.In many ways,it's hurt his reputation and taken away from the fact that he was a terrific fighter at one point in his career.

As for Donald Curry - truly brilliant fighter at his best, but his downfall was a dramatic one.Curry was at his absolute peak and on top of the world when he lost to a huge underdog in a fight in which he took quite a pasting.A fighter still as young and highly regarded as Curry was probably expected to come back from defeat an even greater fighter and prove himself like the greats of the past had done - Instead,he gets layed out by McCallum and become a shell of himself afterwards.

As a fan of Curry,it would be nice to see him recognized for the great fighter he was.But I can understand why he's not in the hall of fame. It's a similar case with Hamed and his less-than-graceful departure from the sport.

IF MCguigan is in than Curry should definitely be in.... Both from the same era and Curry was considered the much better fighter. In Mcguigans short prime he was considered borderline top 10 at best .... Curry was rivaling the great Hagler for the number one spot and won 2 division champ to Mcguigans 1.

He gets my vote his prime wasnt long but he was outstanding. But if he gets in should Michael Nunn?

Of course Donald Curry is HOF worthy. In that short period that he was the welter kingpin..and especially after destroying fellow champion McCrory, he was brilliant. He just suffer one of the steepest falls from grace that just about any champion ever suffered..but that dosen't negate his time in the sun.

As far as some of his losses, Mccallum was one of the best fighters at 154 of recent times and gave Toney two hard fights at MW so I don't hold that loss against him. Nunn could've been great but his lack of focus in the ring cost him and Toney really toke advantage of that dropping him with a left hook then stopping him. Norris, like Mccallum, another great 154 fighter that's one of the best of recent years so I don't hold that loss against Curry. Him draining himself against Honeyghan then losing hurt his career as did the upset to Jacquot. Every other loss I don't blame him for.

Unfortunately Darwinism is going to pick on McGuigan until (and you know it is going to happen), Butterbean finds a place in it...:scaredas:

Every year Donald Curry doesn't get in the IBHOF, an angel has their wings clipped and a clitoridectomy performed on them.

    Ditto Joey Archer.

I don't hold either loss to "Honeyghan or McCallum" in 1986 and 1987 against him. He was simply beat.. I also don't hold his last loss in 1997 or 1998 against some unknown... Curry was done like a grilled chicken on a BBQ by then...
