Thread only asks the former. :good Pretty much everyone's answer to "Hall of Famer" should be yes, even if they don't quite see him making the cut as an All Time Great. Everyone should be pretty much on board with him making the HOF ASAP after this many years of eligibility.
Bruce Curry like so many other ex fighters are simply dumb and have no clue how to manage themselves, so they leave it up to some so-called fight manager to pay their bills and set them straight... Problem is, most fight managers are usually crooked and skim countless dollars off the top of one's earnings, etc... It happens all the time.... I think Bruce Curry thought trainer / handler Jesse Reid jacked him outta some cash so he went after him with a gun.... Yeah, Bruce Curry is a real bright light bulb... :rofl:roll: MR.BILL:hat
Of course other Junior Welterweight alphabet title holders would never do that. Particularly Terry Marsh.
I heard that Bruce had some mental problems... Dont know if it was true or just a lawyers story for a good defense but i did hear something like that.
The lawyers used that crap for the court to go easy on Bruce.... Just like Johnny Cochrane using Bowe's "Brain Damage" excuse for his bizarre behavior in reacquiring his ex-wife and kids at knife point.... All legal bull****.... :roflblood MR.BILL:rasta
Yes he should be in his prime was short but its among the best ever and boy was he a well oiled machine in that short time its very nearly the best prime i've seen in my lifetime it would have been the best if it lasted longer....
He was great at his best,I thought he would go on for years.I could not believe it when Honeyghan beat him,it was the first big shock result I saw as a boxing fan. Its a disgrace Curry aint in the hall of fame.He was undisputed champ and although he never really came back from that loss he still won some decent fights after it.
seeing other guys who made it in he should make it in. However, many of the guys who are in the Hall of Fame should not be in there.
He gets in because the bar has been lowered, but imo he shouldn't be in it. I know many would scoff at this, but I'd actually put Marlon Starling in the HOF before Donald Curry. I actually think he had a better career (if you discount the robberies).
My personal bar is high enough for both. :bbb It is just the HOF, after all. Curry & Starling should be Hall of Famers at a minimum.
My thoughts exactly. He wasn't a true great, and to answer the thread question he's not worthy IMO - BUT he could get in because other comparably unworthy fighters are also in.
