Nietes is +180 to win so Ioka is a more clear favorite than i actually thought, i took Ioka with +100 odds two days ago but the whole market drifted towards him and i agree overall. Ioka looked great at his comeback vs. Arroyo and was in superb shape while Nietes is fading obviously, not getting any younger and Palicte who is a different fighter compared to Ioka gave him much trouble and beat him on my card (but i rate Ioka one class above Palicte tbh) BUT still i believe this will be a close fight where Ioka will edge it due to being younger, fresher and more sharp over 12 rounds. Ioka via decision.
The odds have been fluctuating all week, apparently. Nietes opened as the favorite across the board, now most books have shifted to Ioka but a couple still have it narrowly for Nietes.
I am quite surprised about that tbh. I thought Ioka would open as the fav and then it would drift towards 50/50 but now it's almost the opposite and Nietes even was +200 to win at Pinnacle last night. Still i think taking Ioka at +100 was a good bet, i think he should win. Now Nietes is +170 so i could even make a sure bet out of it. But i am convinced Ioka will prevail.
Nietes looked in great shape at today's weigh in. When i saw ioka on superfly 3 he looked like a bantamweight but today the size difference is really slight. I really hope nietes wins this old man deserves some credit.
War Ioka, he's been one of my favorite midgets for years now. His resume is one of the best in the lower weights, already better than Nietes and adding Donnie to it, will enhance it even more, eventually leading to a Chocolatito showdown I've wanted to see for a while. Granted it would be a diminished Chocolatito, but I want to see it anyway.
Any idea as to what time the main event will start? (US time) Should be able to catch it before work.
Thanks! That was earlier than I thought, the card in Japan from today was on at 5:15 figured it would be similar to or a little later than that. Or does espn do tape delay for those cards?
This one is taking place in Macao but even so a strangely early start time. Co-main event at 6pm local and main at 7.
Yeah I thought it would be later with it being in China (admittedly have no idea on time zones in that region of the world). Oh well I don't need sleep.
Hmmm. I haven't seen much of ioka. But from what I seen he is beatable AF! But then again Nietes is 36. The age thang could be a factor. Nietes is known to gas late in fight. But lately that hasn't been a problem. Ioka fella is slow footed and the pace he sets will suit Nietes. I got a feeling Nietes is better than this guy. Nietes is better than that BUM Arroyo! I got Nietes TKO 9.
