fair enough pick! I personally think Froch would take this...but the 2 most likely scenarios are either Carl by decision or Froch by stoppage! Tough call
Donny Lalonde gets a little underrated on these boards. In his early fights he was raw and he really had no jab, just a push jab because of surgical pins in his left shoulder. But don't forget his booming right hand and a big set of balls! Before he even turned pro as an 18 fight amateur novice, he fought 26-0 (25ko's) pro Thomas Hearns in a 4 round exhibition in 1980. Donny took a knee in the second round and then Hearns' butt hit the bottom rope in the 3rd courtesy of Donny's right hand. Donny slowly improved his left jab and mobility in his arm but he was not even thought good enough by the Canadian Boxing Commission to fight for the Canadian Light Heavyweight title. He somehow gained approval to fight and then stopped Roddy McDonald in 10 rounds to claim the title. His change to American trainers Teddy Atlas, then Tommy Gallagher further improved his form and he went on a great run, stopping 3-1 favorite Eddie Davis for the vacant WBC Light-heavyweight title and then stopping 4-1 favorite Leslie Stewart in Stewart's hometown. Donny then gave near prime Sugar Ray Leonard 9 rounds of hell and Donny was forced down to 168lbs for that one. Don't forget Lalonde was a big light-heavy and Froch was susceptible to right hands. I make Lalonde a live underdog in this one, especially at 175lbs.
Froch is overrated IMO. He was always content to be a big fish in a small pond. Calzaghe would have outclassed him if they had met.
