As of above, the Ruddock that produced two spirited efforts against Tyson vs. the 42-year-old Foreman that went the distance with a prime Holyfield
hmmm, ruddock by that time had unfortunately realized he could punch and any semblance of movement and subtly was out the window. razor wanted to bang and he would try, like he with everyone else, to knock foreman out. foreman's defense was very effective unless you used movement or angles, which ruddock didn't. big george also loved in when guys came to him or stood in front of him (ala cooper, coetzee, cooney). ruddock would last a few rounds on workrate than stand and trade with foreman which is a recipe for getting your head knocked off Foreman KO 6
Foreman would take a serious beating. Ruddock did pretty good at distance with his lefthooks and uppercuts. Post Tyson fights he has a better shot. Ruddock UD
Ruddock did **** at a distance. Was all above his power and left hook. Threw fundamentals away, and didn't jab anymore. Foreman KO. Ruddock comes to fight, and gets knocked out. Perhaps he runs like Morrison or something.
Ruddock did everything at range, short range but range. He preferred to hang back and counter with his lefthand as his opponent moved forward. Who would be the agressor in this fight?
I don't think so but even so ruddock took Tysons best stuff in two consecutive fights how is foremans clubbing one punch at a time going to get it done?
Ruddock's work rate was pretty crappy in virtually every fight I've seen him in (Tyson I and II, Dokes, Lewis, Morrison) due to his asthma, and he was a mainly stationary target. Ruddock had no interest in jabbing, moving, setting up punches after he fell in love with his power, so we have to assume he would fight Foreman the same way. (Although a number of guys tried to change their style with various levels of success when fighting Foreman, as bangers like Bert Cooper and Tommy Morrison both turned into boxers when fighting him.) The way to beat Foreman is not up close, and it's not with a low work rate and bad movement. My guess is this: this fight starts off hot and heavy with both guys throwing bombs. However Foreman's more effective defense negates some of Ruddock's blows, as the fact that Ruddock loads up with so many of his shots works against him. Foreman knocks Razor down a few times early, but Razor has the heart and chin to get back up. After early fireworks the pace slows down, and Foreman hangs on to win on points.
i'll admit ruddock had a damn good beard in those fights and showed impressive durability but i feel foreman had much more one punch power than did tyson and would wear him down over a few rounds.
This board amazes me sometimes. Ruddock the number one rated heavyweight who everyone avoided went 19 competitive rounds with Tyson would be destroyed by fat Albert who went life and death with alex Stewart and was outboxed by a nonboxer would simply dispatch Ruddock and knock him out. Please tell me who Foreman beat who was anywhere near the level of ruddock of 91? We all love old George but cmon let's be realistic.
it's more of a styles thing i think. ruddock is very underrated most of the them but the tyson fights were probably the best fights he ever fought. we can't use those fights vs the foreman of the steward fight fairly. overall, ruddock was a relatively straight forward, skilled brawler. brawling against fat albert lol is a death wish. if ruddock can outbox george ala morrison, i can see a win but i see him going right for big george personally
That's kind of my point it didn't take much to outbox him. Think about how we would be discussing Foreman Morrison on this board if it never happened?
good point. Foreman KO 1 if it didn't happen. but judging from i've seen of ruddock he hasn't shown the movement or discipline to do that
Ruddock by Unanimous Decision, I feel most people are underrating "Razor" and overrating "Big" in terms of their 1991 H2H ability.
