picture is to small for me to make out one belt or the other.

as for the ibf belt, calzaghe was mandated to fight steiglitz , but HBO turned down steiglitz as an opponent and wanted a fighter the american public new.

hence manfredo got the call and calzaghe was stripped.

berrio v steiglitz went ahead for the vacant title.

This is all unimportant. Joe Calzaghe is the World Super Middleweight Champion regardless of what the alphabet boys say.

No big deal. Most fighters carry their old belts into the ring, look at Mayweather, you can hardly see for all those green WBC straps.

Joe gave up the IBF to fight Manfredo instead of his IBF mandatory Robert. He wasnt stripped by the IBF.I would have preferred Joe to have kept the belt and defended against the unbeaten Stieglitz. The Manfredo fight was a farce and had no meaning whatsoever at 168.

Fact is Steiglitz couldn't attract flies if he crapped himself.

No fighter is going to fight for free and without TV coverage thats what Joe would have had to do.

Manfredo was just as dangerous an opponent as Steiglitz but if truth be told neither should have been in a ring with a champ. The question is why did the IBF try and force such a lame mandatory on a dominant champ?

The upshot of all this is simple. Joe is the undisputed champ. Bute has a paper title and the IBF smw belt means jack.

Isn't that his belt to keep anyway and they gave Bute a fresh IBF belt?

could you imagine anthony farnell .

he used to take his WBU belt to bed and into the bath with him.

Correct. I think the Bute fan took exception to the idea Joe was still the IBF belt holder.

Do you remember when he came out to "we are the champions" before his fight with Takaloo for the vacant WBU light middleweight bauble then got KO'd in a round?

Sure do.Thats when they used to call Tak the "milkman". Was a great KO seeing as they had bad blood between them.Shame Tak turned out to be nothing more than a good journeyman. He had some talent though. What was worse was when he wanted DLH to come and fight him ini Kent! All tongue in cheek of course.:yep

Yeah, Farnell got into the ring & was squaring up to him straight away before getting KO'd. I've got a lot of respect for Tak he bravely hung in there with Daniel Santos even though he was clearly out of his depth. Probably could have gone further had he been managed better. I remember him walking around with that picture of DLH asking people if they'd seen him.
