Jesus H christ man. This is stupid - don't let your excitment over his win cloud your perception. The man will be 43,possibly close to 44 years old before this fight takes place.

Calzaghe fights Kessler in November(My birthday:yep)and after he whoops the ever living **** out of him,the negotiations and what not could take up to a full year.....

Don't let this win cloud your mind.

Calzaghe is a bigger man than Winky, has better speed and better combinations, uses beter angles - the whole 9 yards. Add to Calzaghe's talents times 4 the age of B-hop and you will have a beatdown.

    THEN.............

THEN after Calzaghe beats B-hop most of you ****ing clowns will say "ooooooooh well B-hop is over the hill, look how old he is,this win doesn't mean anything for Calzaghe."

    Get with it.

Hopkins should retire and retire an ALL TIME GREAT.

calzaghe is obviously faster and flashier than winky.

but on the flipside calzaghe is a bit more open to counters.

i still see hops-calzaghe being close.

but i do give calzaghe more of a chance after tonight.

    up for grabs fight. :bbb

It's the age that makes this fight so unattractive for Calzaghe fans - it's a lose lose situation.

There's no reason why the fight shouldn't happen.

Calzaghe's been calling out 'Nard for the past two years.

Bernard's just proved he still has world class ability.

The bout would make huge money and would have historical significance.

Of course Hopkins would be a big underdog, but he can't win forever. Calzaghe would know better than to try to flurry him to death. If you think Joe would make Hopkins do a Manfredo, you're as bad as the idiots on the other end of the spectrum calling Ex the all-time alpha and omega from 160-175. I see a nip and tuck fight where the Welshman gets the nod for more consistent activity, in the range of 8-4 or 7-5.

Calzag is no spring chicken himself though, he's about the same age as right.

Calzag is a whole other problem for Hopkins. Bigger than Winky with faster handspeed and a more aggresive offense means trouble.

    Calzag wins.

You're not understanding - through the eyes of boxing historians, and fans alike, this fight is meaningless from Calzaghe's perspective.

The old age of Hopkins will rear it's ugly head.

It Calzaghe wins it's because of Hopkin's age - if Hopkins wins,he's the man.

This fight has no weight when looking at it from Calzaghe's point of view - or his fans.

In terms of generating mass apeal/money this is the ideal fight - anything other is pointless.

Okay, so you are worried about idiots pulling the "he's old, Joe should have won" argument. But if it meant nothing, why did Joe waste his breath so often calling out Bernard? It obviously means something. If it was so damn easy to decisively beat Old Man River, why hasn't it happened yet?

You can't tuck your tail between your legs because revisionists (not true historians) look for ways to belittle a fighter's achievements. Are you also disappointed he's fighting Kessler, because his detractors will call Kessler a green, textbook boxer? This kind of garbage becomes paralyzing.

Maybe, but JC has never fought someone who smothers, headbutts, shoulder rolls, whacks you with his elbows and delivers kidney and rabbit punches when the ref is turned in the opposite direction like B-Hop. He knows just what to do against a smothery volume puncher. Christ, I think if he could think of a way to hide a gun or knife in his gloves, they would find B-Hop's next opponent dead with a slug in his brain. Even at this old age, and perhaps even more than when he was in his prime, B-Hop is the very definition of the word throwback.

Bernard Hopkins is a master boxer, he has been in just about every situation and Calzaghe can show Bernard nothing that RJJ didn't.

That said Calzaghe would probably win a UD based on the fact he would be throwing much more punches. There is no way that Calzaghe will dominate Hopkins it can't be done at tjis point.

Unfortunetly Calzaghe wins this one. B-Hop will keep it interesting and will have his moments.
