As a Hopkins fan....I will tell ya....people have been saying that for how long now?

Oh when he loses all of his fans will say age caught up with him....blah blah blah.

Well he lost to Taylor, anyone see any of those posts from Hopkins fans??? NO, there were none (a few from the many on here who dispise the guy for some weird reason....:-( )...for one reason because most people (and Im not just talking Hopkins fans....most people that watch boxing) felt he won AT LEAST one of those. But back to the point....you have never heard that, and people have been saying it for 5 years + now. People really need some new material on here....gettin old.

Im gonna save you the time here. Calzaghe is a fantastic fighter. BUT, he is a high output fighter, who throws in volumes rather than with alot of power (I do think he has very underrated power tho)....which is the EXACT TYPE OF FIGHTER a defensive counter puncher eats alive...and there arent many better defensive counter punchers EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT better than Hopkins.

The stylistic matchup favors Hopkins by a mile.....but with that said.

I do think it will be a good fight, and due to Bernards output problems in some fights, Calzaghe has a chance. But to say that it will be a lopsided victory...even tho Joe has never faced anyone even remotely near as good as an older Hopkins (which actually IS the point...hense why I asked it)....is borderline insanity.

Thanks and I hope you learned something....

Good post. If JC won, of course Bernards age would be considered a factor, but at the same time people realise he is still a top p4p fighter, and it would be a very good win for him. Personally I think Hop beats JC anyway. To crafty, and too good with that right hand. JC looks great against people who don't move around the ring will like Manfredo and Lacy. Hop is one of the best ring technicians of the last 20 years. He would provide JC the toughest test of his career.

Of course, as I said, Joe's ability to throw such a high volume could factor into a decision.

And leeroy, Im not the type of poster that makes excuses.....go read some of my stuff...aint in me. I may be a fan of Hopkins, but Im a boxing fan first. I tend to look at things more subjectively then others.

So as I said, the ONLY advantage Calzaghe has on Hop is output (there are other things he does better, but they are things that wont factor in come fighttime...speed, power, etc.). And against a fighter like Bernard, unless there is alot behind that output, he is GOING to make that a disadvantage. Plus when you add in the fact that noone that Joe has ever stepped into the ring with is even capable of holding Bernards spit bucket in between rounds....there is NO WAY you can look at it objectively and say its an easy win for Calzaghe....

Who gives a **** what people would say if he lost. Did HOPKINS LOSE SATURDAY?

You are completly clueless to what I was saying. Go back to the lounge and embarress yourself there.

Hopkins will be called old when he LOOKS old in the ring. And so far, he hasn't has he?

Sorry loser, Hopkins isn't superman. He's a great boxer who's taken incredible care of his body, which allows him to stay at this level he's reached so far.

Now, try to tell me what I said doesn't make sense you moron.

For a guy who is old and past it he has completely out done himself to beat the number 1 guy at light heavy and then beat a fighter considered to be one of the top p4p fighters in the world today.

Does anyone else here think that BHop would make an awesome coach? His technical knowledge of the sport would be unrivaled. It would simply be a matter of whether he could adapt his knowledge to suit the styles of different fighters.

at this point i would pick Calzaghe to decision Hopkins, but a prime Hopkins would've countered Calzaghe to hell with that right hand...Hopkins is just a beat too slow at 42 to really take over a fight with Calzaghe...

If anyone beats Hopkins, I will give full credit to anyone. Honestly, you have to admit he is "over the hill", but he's still a ridiculously tough fight for anyone. If Calzaghe beats him, it's a great feather in his cap, regardless of anything.

The guy knows as much about styles as anyone possibly could. I'd love to sit down and talk with him about the old legends like Moore and Charles, Walcott. Wow.
