What does a guy who's scared of taking on an opponent who might hurt him, but who wants to face a big name gut who'll look good on his resume do? Why, if he's Roy Jones Jr., he fights a shot, shopworn shell of a guy who just has a name, like Tito Trinidad, that's what!! Trinidad is going to end up just like Wilfred Benitez, or maybe like Gerald McClellan by not knowing when to quit. If Winky humiliated and outclassed him, what does he think will happen to him against Jones? Jones is too big and fast even at this stage of his career to worry about Tito, and this looks like an ugly mismatch as far as I'm concerned. Both guys should quit now, or else be tragic human interest story of the future.

I'm not buying Vargas-Mayorga, but maybe I'll buy Trinidad-Jones because both are future hall of famers and big names.

Im buying both and cant ****ing weight. If history has shown us anything its that often times when past their prime fighters fight each other the fights usually end up to be brawls.

again, it didnt have anything to do with the significance of the fight, or them feeling it was or was not ppv worthy... it had to do with available time slots and having no room for another fight. hence, in order for the fight to be shown, they had to go ppv.

obviously, they would have liked to get it free... in all honesty when fights are less then blockbusters, all parties involved usually get MORE out of showing them on HBO and Showtime for free. in this case (Vargas/mayorga) they didnt have that chance.

The Mayorga-Vargas fight should be entertaining even if both guys are far removed from their best. I thought it had a couple decent undercard fights as well so that ppv could be worth getting. Although the very next week is the Marquez-Juarez card. That main event is not nearly as good as Mayorga-Vargas but it looked to have a better undercard.

The thing that worries me about Jones-Trinidad is that I have a feeling it could be very one-sided. As much as I respect Tito for going after the big fight/fighters like he always has. I think he's made a mistake in taking on Jones after such a long layoff and at a weight well above one he's fought at before. Not sure yet but I see Trinidad in for a very tough night.

You're not seeing the big picture Kirk. There's s reason that DLH did'nt land fights with Mosely and Trinidad.
DLH was a manipulator. Even in defeat, he looked upon Mosely and Trinidad as peons out of work that he was doing them a favor.
DLH made them offers intended to be turned down. He did'nt want to look the part that he was the one who really did'nt want the fights.

Both Mosely and Trinidad had the diginity enough as persons to not let DLH manipulate their earnings on a big stage event where each before had the upper hand on him.

The Mosely rematch was made only because at that point Mosely was coming off of losses, and Mosely no longer had the bargaining chip power he did prior to those losses.
In that case, Mosely had the intelligence to know that a win against DLH after losses to Vernon Forrest, would get him right back to being able to earn quality money at a big stage event.
It was the correct business move for Mosely.

Lets get real here, DLH fights who the damn well he pleases.
Why after not being able to win a big fight against a true peer is beyond me, but he still manages to pull off and fight who he really wants to fight.
If there's a fight that has'nt come about for DLH, its come from his own doing. If there's a fight that has'nt happened involving DLH, its because he does'nt want that particular fight.

Ray Leonard lost to Roberto Duran, and the orders were to get Roberto Duran and offer him what ever it took to get him right back in the ring as soon as it was humanly possible.

Leonard throughout his career had the clout to get any fight he wished, the same went for DLH, so if either fighter did'nt get a fight its because they did'nt want the fight.

I'll probably buy both of them.
These fights are better than most PPV's in that their intriguing fights that can go either way.
When you take into account where each fighter is in their career, these are even matchups!

    Nothing wrong with these PPV's!

I believer that true boxing fans will relent and but Vargas-Mayorga, and Don King knows how to promote a show, even the casual fan will probably tune in and shell out money for Trinidad-Jones!
