i cant stand bernard "difference between me and 90% of other fighters is that i fight to survive, i'm from the streets" -snaggle tooth, countdown to winky-bhop no you dont you *****, you fight like a ***.
Well then you're still failing to make sense. I've only seen Floyd fight one way at Welterweight, pot shot his way to victory and open up...every now and then. What's so dynamic about that? It's pleasing to me as a fan of the sport, he clearly has skills, but I know exactly what I'm going to get with Mayweather which is why I never anticipate a good fight when he's involved. You're coming out with agenda-driven nonsense.
Cause i made the mf post thats how. I can relate whatever the **** i want. Im not saying **** to you about how you just went back and forth with MW over pacquaio on this thread.
I hear you. I personally quite like to see Floyd in full flow, but by the same token, I can understand why some people would go away unsatisfied, especially when Floyd didn't even seem to attempt to get Marquez out of there. Juan can't even function properly at 147lbs. He's safety first and it gets the job done, hence his "40 and 0 baby, 40 have tried and 40 have failed". But I don't see how anyone can have any arguments when someone says, "I really didn't enjoy that tonight". Floyd can throw combination's as fluently and beautifully as any fighter in the game, but all we get is lead right hands, a jab, and single shots. I feel short changed.
A few points: 1) Just because Mayweather is the "most marketable fighter" in boxing today doesn't mean he's marketable. Last I checked, boxing is still in the shitter popularity-wise. Just because you're the most popular athete in your sport doesn't make you popular with the general public if your sport is overlooked. When you think of household names, you think of Leonard, Hearns, Ali, Tyson, Holyfield. Even De La Hoya. Can anybody actually argue that Mayweather is a household name? Why isn't he? Because: 2)He's boring. He has a boring style, he's not fun to watch and people don't enjoy watching him. that's not to say people won't pay to watch his fights because they want to watch him lose, but do a quick poll like I did after his fight against Marquez. Ask if most people enjoyed that fight. Now do the same thing with his De La Hoya fight, and his Baldomir fight, or even the Judah fight. Hatton was mildly entertaining, but you'd have to go back a long way to get to a genuinely great and memorable Mayweather fight. You can't blame it on lack of appreciation for his style - Ali, Robinson, and Leonard were all master boxers and people appreciated and loved them because they put themselves out there. They took chances. Mayweather does not. But despite all that... 3)Mayweather is not the most boring fighter in the world. And I think anybody who praises B-Hop and scorns Mayweather is a bit of a hypocrite. However bad Mayweather is, B-Hop is worse, though something tells me that if Mayweather were a 45 year old fighter, he would BE B-Hop. But I don't see a problem with calling things how you see it. Just because B-Hop is more boring doesn't mean that Mayweather is magically above criticism. He's not. They should both be roundly criticized for not injecting any entertainment into their fights, but Mayweather even more so because he's in his prime and he's the "face" of the sport in the US and if he loves the sport as much as he says, he should be out there trying to put on good shows all the time, even if he means he has to stand and trade or throw a combination or come in at the contracted weight every now and then.
No actually smart ass you've completely missed my point. I'm not saying you have to like Mayweather, I am saying that people who say that he is a boring fighter because he is not running in the ring and knocking guys the **** out do not fully appreciate the sport for what it is.
Then you havent been following. Floyd walked down Judah and Mitchell, pressured them and cut off the ring. Floyd potshotting HAtton and DLH. But it really wasnt the same, Floyd more or less walked Hatton into his punches whereas agianst DLH he employed more movement. Against JMM he utilized the jab, punshing him with it, probably as an answer for JMM's counter punching abilities. Floyd has had more exciting ones then boring ones. I could rattle off a massive list of his "exciting" fights, quoted because it depends on the viewer whats exciting and whats not, but it'd be pointless. Not really just facts. Floyd is the bigger name, has sold more PPV"s then Pacquiao, if people thought Floyd was boring they wouldnt buy his fights. Plain as.
same thing **** jockey. tell jake lamotta he dont know **** about boxing he said he doesn't like watching mayweather.
Check your opening post. You reference Pacquiao first, almost insinuating that Pacquiao and Mayweather are in the same boat. Pacquiao has been knocking guys out since 2003. His style isn't comparable to Floyd's and generally speaking, he's a far more exciting fighter. I don't see how anyone can dispute this?
It's no coincidence that Floyd apologists are more concerned with how many PPV buys their man is responsible for rather than who his next opponent is.
No you check my post. I only referenced pacquiao in the fact he fought boring ass **** pants Clottey. I was talking about those two fights be boring as hell. I know it wasnt pacs fault the fight was boring.
So you drink shots whilst Floyd is performing? I can see how that could add some drama. ****, I'd probably find John Ruiz compelling if I was off my tits on Tequila.
Yeah I see where you're coming from, we saw Floyd do a lot more in the lighter weight classes. I feel that he wanted to go the whole 12 with Marquez to shake off the ring rust, there would have been little benefit in him KO'ing Marquez early if he wanted to get rid of any ring rust. The pot shotting may be down to the problems with his hands, but I have the feeling Mosley will bring the best out of Mayweather and he will be forced to open up more.
