Relative to the entire spectrum from worst fight to best fight of all time, it was well above average. Anyone who thinks otherwise just hasn't seen enough boxing matches or hasn't been following boxing long enough to have stumbled upon an actually terrible fight.
People only emphasize Mayweather style so much because they don't like him as a person. They would not place so much emphasise on his style and call him boring if he wasn't so cocky and arrogant outside the ring an was simply a nice guy, they would simply say he is a master at what he does rather than let his character outside the ring effect their opinion of him inside it.
Floyd boys complaining about a boring a fight should be hanged, more so if you didnt shell out money for it.
Bringing a fighter's family into boxing is pretty shitty. Yeah, Mayweather beat Hatton up, yeah Hatton's family got sad and scared. Is that funny? Floyd was supposed to beat Hatton, he had every advantage. Wow, you beat a guy everyone thought you were gonna beat.
Floyd fights are NOT always boring. It all depends on who he fights. The fighter has to bring the fight and threatening weapons to enough of a degree to force Mayweather to exchange. By nature he is very content to make you look like a complete idiot in the ring. Floyd smacking around an opponent who is too slow to threaten him(Baldomir), or too small to hurt him AND too slow(Marquez) can be boring after a few rounds because you see the same pattern repeated: they try their best to get to Floyd and he deftly uses the ring/upperbody movement/shoulder roll to make them miss and accurately stings then with counters. In these fights the fighters were shown to be neutered very early in the fight. The rest of the fight would be a frustrating and demoralizing beating(but not a terrible beating) Floyd is most fun to watch in the scenario where his opponent is really bringing pressure and he has to put the screws in to stand up to it. Where they are starting to get to them and he has to adjust and punish them for whatever tactic they were being effective with. He did such against Corrales, Ndou, Chavez, Augustus, Mitchell, Judah(before the fouls) and Hatton. All those guys were stopped in impressive fashion as a result. Unfortunately Floyd has only done this against guys his size(I guess he has the confidence to do this against opponents that fit that mold) That's why Pac seems more exciting at times because he'll try and overwhelm a bigger fighter whereas Floyd tries to make that same bigger fighter look ******ed. Only if that fighter forces him to will Mayweather start to open up with his full arsenal.
agreed. I watch Floyd's fights on YouTube and DVD because he has great skill. But ordering his fights on PPV? Not really. I want to be awed and inspired at least a little. It depends on the opponents style, I ordered Mayweather-Judah and Mayweather-Hatton, and never even considered ordering his other fights
Pac doesn't give boring fights. He goes for the kill every fight. Clottey made it boring. Hopkins on the other hand...he'll be boring. But stop talkin about Pac. That man comes to whip a mother ****ers ass.
