Of course, Pac has a suberb resume! The problem is not taking money fights or money circus acts - the problem is giving credit to them as historical matchups. PacMan is superb and I like the guy, but moving up in weight to beat a real WW works only on a historical standpoint if you fight a prime WW, which is Margarito or Williams or Berto or Cotto. That's all I have to say. If you look at this as a money fight and big boxing event, we agree. If you look at it as history written all over it, that's very wrong.

pac maybe is retiring 2 to 3 fights from now. any boxer wants to earn as much before he has nothing left to offer. pac has been fighting the best for the past years. now he is getting the biggest money fight and at the same time taking a big risk cause he is fighting a naturaly much bigger opponent in hoya. and hoya is not shot compared to roy jones. if there was anyone who deserves your anger, it should be joe going for a big money fight in jones but with a very little risk. don't worry big bone, after hoya ko'ed pac brutally, you will celebrate joe's ascension to the top. or ring mag's number 2 cause they will have jmm as the p4p king.

Many people just failed to understand what BB was saying, even though he repeated it a couple of times. He's only arguing against the historical significance of the fight. They're trying to sell it as the "Dream Fight", the best and most significant fight in boxing, and it clearly isn't. :deal

I wonder what can the thread starter say about now?

If he could top every facts I posted then I'll believe him.

But until then he is a complete Pac-Hater and a pure BS.

I hope he's not retiring from the sport in 2 or 3 fights. That would horrible for boxing. JMM is not getting any younger, Joe's going out, and Hopkins... well, who knows. But if DLH knocks out PacMan brutally, as you stated, where does that put boxing? Another young guy beaten by and aging, over-the-hill fighter - just this time the old boy was much bigger. So sick situation. PacMan deserves all the millions or ten millions he's making, but what I'm talking about is a whole different thing you guys keep ignoring: boxing's standpoint! This is such a weird fight, and I don't see historical significance due to the reasons I've stated. I'm talking about nothing else. You'll see what my problem is when all the hell breaks out after 24/7 brainwash.

any real boxing fans knows the deal here. for me the dream fight is pacquiao vs. marquez 3. just imagine, the current #1 and the current #2 p4p fighter (no offense to joe). but since pac had just fought jmm a few months ago and he was offered by a once-in-a-lifetime offer by hoya that is hard to refuse, why blame pac for fighting hoya? hoya should be the one getting most of the brunt and not pacquiao.

and if he doesn't think that a former flyweight beating a former 154 champ is not historically significant then its his opinion. and why are they talking as if pacquiao is sure to win this fight?

They're not. They're saying he's not going to win this fight, but not because Oscar's too good, but because Oscar's too big.

as i said the real boxing fans knows the deal here. i for one doesn't want this fight but prior to this fight being made, the only available option for pacquiao is humberto soto. hoya entertained a pacquiao fight and the rest is history. pac only fights whoever is put in front of him. oscar should be mostly blame for this fight.

as a boxing fan, it depressed me that this fight was signed. but as a pac fan, i am happy for pacquiao earning his biggest pay day while at the same time will have a chance (no matter how small) to improve his legacy by beating hoya.

Once PacMan was a flyweight, yes, at 17. But for Chrissakes, DLH was a little guy at 17 as well! Floyd Mayweather was a flyweight at 17, just he didn't fight at the pros at the time, unlike PacMan. Now what?

It's not that Calderon or Montiel moving up - at their current age, they are still fighting at a low weight class. Others, like Floyd or DLH or PacMan, grew and grew constantly. At his age, in 2008, Manny Pacquiao weighs 146 pounds fight night, and not 112. Floyd Mayweather, a former flyweight at 17, fought and beat a past-prime DLH at 154. Credit to him, that's even bigger difference in weight, just the achievement is split to amateur and pro years. And DLH had a world title back then and looked great in his last outing vs. Mayorga. Still not the superb credit of beating a prime LMW in DLH.

A year and a half later, vs. Forbes, DLH looked much older, the feather-fisted guy busted up his face, he doesn't hold a title anymore, nor he's ranked. It's not even the same! Beating him would still be a fantastic achievement, but you have to agree: Pac is after the money (he truly deserves) and not the glory (he's already a PRIME HOF-er, and ATG, regardless of this fight). If he was after the glory, he would've fought the guy equal Hopkins to De La Hoya. Oscar De La Hoya, a FW at 17, fought Hopkins, an actual P4P-er, a LHW champion at a time, the division's best. He didn't fought an old, unranked MW, who once was a great fighter. Credit is still there for PacMan if he pulls this one off... but you have to agree: it's not the same...

    Go Pacquiao!

The reason why pac is fighting hoya is not just because of money, though i have to admit that is also part of the reason, it is cementing his legacy because hoya was announcing that in december he will be having his final fight. That is a chance of seeing this 2 gladiators locking horns with each other, you may say that it doe'snt prove **** for pac to become p4p#1 if ever he wins but so many people right now are downgrading his chances. In fact if you see the odds in vegas, hoya is being favored 3-1. That means so many people think that pac is making a mistake in facing hoya, giving him no chance at all. And here you are, almost saying that, even if pac wins that is meaningless. Remember hoya has the height and reach advantage, has nacho on his side making the calls, and at fightnight who knows what will be hoya's weight..pac is not going to walk in to the park brother. This is maybe a mismatch if you looked well on those factors, and yet you're not going to credit pac if he ever wins..what a shame. Pac had the balls to challenge hoya and you're not even keen on praising it..the same thing that your idol in your avatar did seconds ago after dispatching mijares. And vic challenged hoya at 152! What do you think of that? Did'nt the media laughed aboutit? But what if vic wins? Will you agree to place him in a higher p4p ranking at least inside top 5?

WTF?!!! CAN YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND?!? Earlier you said PAC should fight the likes of CAMPBELL and JMM............... but since PAC will be fighting DLH you NOW have a difference tune!

PAC should fight MARGARITO,WILLIAMS, Berto or COTTO?!?:admin
So you would not GIVE pac CREDIT in case he wins coz you want PAC to beat any of the ffw...

The way you reason out for the sake of arguement that PAC wins over COTTO..... then you will Say... PAC should actually fight Berto, should fight............... DAMN! YOU ARE EXPOSED!!!!

You would not give PAC any credit NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS.

    CERTIFIED LOSER!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup
