I think the reason Kid is upset about this is because PW was supposed to be his big win and he was robbed of it. That should have opened up doors for him but now fighters and promoters can say what you are saying. "Who has he beaten?" I do agree that he has not beaten anyone of note for the champs to be accused of avoiding him. He just needs to keep busy and the big fights will come to him. His problem is he has been sitting idle for far too long and with his age that should not be the case. I would love to see Lara-Angulo or Lara-Kirkland. I have always said a pressure fighter is the worst style for Lara as his inside game is minimal. Those 2 would be great tests.
I want Ronald to win I just do not see how. The management of Ronald Hearns has not matched him well to get his skills to their best. He is 6-3 like his father, but his reach is 73 inches. That is 5 inches less than his father who is 78 inches, and less then Hagler and Leonard both. It is good to be tall, but Ronald does not have the reach to be as efficient with his jab as his father and keep guys away from him, and he didn't have much amatuer experience. I was hoping they would get him 40 fights with weak enough competition. After a loss going in against Lara might not be a good idea. I hope Ronald wins. I think he might have ok power and his chance is to maybe stop Lara. I know it sounds ridiculous, but that might be the way he can win. Earlly knockout. But I admit Lara has the edge
You are absolutely right, getting robbed against PW got me upset, but remember Martinez who after a first close fight loss against pw was matched against pavlik ,who was ranked first at 160. Lara on the other hand after getting robbed( worse than Sergio ) hasn't been able to land a single fight. I don't see anybody at 154 throwing more and putting more pressure that PW,not even Angulo or Kirkland .I see Lara having a tough fight with cotto and maybe a mature Alvarez .
For anybody's thats never seen Ronald Hearns fight before, I'll give you a heads up........ he's not as good as his dad. Lara in 6.
Been tracking his name on the Midwest circuit for a while now...for a couple of reasons: 1) He had a good stretch in 2010-11, drawing with and then beating Phil "The Drill" Williams who'd been making some noise (based primarily off a win over onetime contender Antwun Echols, stopping him at a point in time where not too many people had ever done it...unlike now...:yep) and beating Echols himself. 2) His nickname is "Golden"...as in "Golden Ax(e)"...any child of the late 80's/early 90's knows why that is so awesome... Then at some point I checked out some footage of him and remember being deeply underwhelmed. :conf He's sort of a "star at regional/Midwest level, middling at US domestic level, dud/non-entity at world level" type.
