yeah he was different in the first 4 rounds the fight was intresting with Pascal landing some nice counters here and there. once pascal was hurt once he didnt have punch left. he landed a wild punch that almost put kovalev through the ropes (probably split step in there)

I think roach wasnt a good fit with pascal at all. the plus to pascal is he made over 5 million dollars in his bouts vs kovalev and he likely wasnt seriously hurt and can have more paydays in quebec.

in the first fight he won 2 rounds really clear (all three judges, everyone on press row and HBO gave him the same 2 rounds, so don't be an online fan "LOL KOVA WON THOSE ROUNDS TOO" )

If Kovalev has had weak resume then what about Chickensons?

Does he get credit then or does he still have to seek out these so called competitive fights?

He has the best resume at 175.

 

Take away Kessler and Froch and Ward's resume isn't all that good, especially when youre having to go the full 12 rounds with guys like Green and Rodriguez.

 

Stevenson has horrible resume. His best win is glass jawed Chad Dawson who was way past it in 2013 and got beaten by tomato can Tommy Karpency a year after that.

 

Ward would considered past prime due to his inactivity.

And they would say beating Stevenson doesn't count because Stevenson is an old man.

 

Jean Pascal in this second fight just epitomises what it means to be past prime.
Kovalev is very skilled.

 

I like Kovalev but I am not presumptuous enough to posit that beating the limited Pascal twice and geriatric Hopkins make him an atg. To be honest, I was not that impressed by Kovalev last night. Since the wide punches of Pascal were ocassionally getting through, his defense is kind of suspect.
