Agreed, who the **** cares if Hopkins called him a white boy and said he was going to beat his ass, guys like Tyson and Ali, said the same or worse to promote a fight, yet I hear noone getting on them. We all remember when Tyson said " You scared now, you scared like a little white *****", I'm white, and I thought it was funny.

Mr.Plow182- Hopkins might not have the bigger fan base coming out of his home country, but at least Hopkins is a house hold name, the Kessler/Calzaghe fight, broke records for being least watched main event, most people never even heard of the guy until he beat Lacy in March of 06.

You know why too, he fought bums for nearly 10 years holding the WBO belt, and refused to fight in America all this time, what do expect people think? Of course noone hear is going to know who he is, but at least now he trying to make up for lost time, fighting good oppenents like Kessler and Hopkins.

As respect for the thread starter, this will be my last post on the subject. Hopkins beat Tito, who was a huge underdog going in, Oscar, Tarver, had to gain weight to fight, and was also a huge underdog in this one, he beat Glen Johnson, a guy your boy Calzaghe backed out against twice I believe. He also had two close matches with Taylor, where most people thought he won both, and also challenged Jones back in 93, in his prime, and lost in a practical sparring match.

While Hopkins does have losses on his record, he at least challenged himself and fought the best oppenents out there, something Calzaghe never did, which explains his weak resume.

nutt huggers have no effect on me as far as me liking a fighter. If i like a fighter I like a fighter it doesn't matter if their fans say their fighter is God. And it shouldn't make a difference on anyone, I think thats baby ****.

Precisely and the man Mike loves the MOST is Tattoo`ed on him. People say things that doesnt mean by default that they actually mean it. (il keep it real though Mike made me laugh when he said that. But i made him right.Id be pissed as hell too if some pencil neck reporter yelled at me to put me in straight jacket)

Alot of people dont understand the business aspect of boxing, it's all about the money, Hopkins already has the legacy intact. Calzaghe doesnt sell in the states, we already got a taste of that when he fought Kessler, the viewing numbers were disappointing to say the least, I'm sure Hopkins factored that in as well, Hopkins is known to say or do things to promote a fight, we seen it against Tito when degraded Tito's flag, or when he slapped Winky at the weigh in, stunts like that is what gets people's attention and puts asses in the seats.

    It isn't that simple.

Bernard Hopkins may not have as higher punch volume, but he has proven to neutralise the oppositions offence many times in his career. By Calzaghe's own admission, Joe likes to counterpunch but I feel Hopkin strategy going into the fight will be to make things awkward but inviting Joe in. Joe has never fought anybody of Hopkins caliber in his entire career so the undefeated record hardly plays a factor.
