I don't think there's any shame in tapping if you're avoiding the inevitable. Did we really need to see Shogun get pummeled any more?

I was seriously shocked Rua lasted this long. Thats a testament to the amount of punishment he took. He really had Jones tired there for a bit. Unfortunately for him, Jones is so great that he doesnt just get his second wind and continue fighting. He gets his second wind and explodes.

Sometimes having a great chin must be annoying as ****, most guys would have been out long before and saved the beating he took.

First time ever being put away with strikes, though.

  9. Sickening beat down. Each shot with so much force and leveridge. The last liver shot was the finisher.

Who knows if Shogun can recover from a loss like that. Was thinking of Spinks in this fight...

I don't hold it against him. He took a horrendous beating. His face was in extremely bad shape after the fight.

Jones is a damn monster. Superhero by day, Champion by night. He's a stud.

I noticed that in the replay on the telecast yesterday.

He just copped a massiv ribs/liver shot after the knees (and the restr of the beating) - I don't blame or think less of him.

    That was some scary ****.

That wasnt top form shogun, Rua had no cardio and could not put up an offense. this version of shogun was the same that tapped to Forrest Griffith.

    So dont be so surprised.

Enough excuses. Shogun came at his best, and was dismantled.... easily. There is no version of Shogun that is beating Jones.

I don't see how anyone can accuse Shogun of not having cardio - Both men were pretty gassed when they got up at the end of the first.
