And I don't respect a fighter that comes in out of shape and injured if that's what your claiming. He already got finished by the original Ultimate Fighter being out of shape, you think he would have learned his lesson wouldn't you? Or does he not respect his opponents enough?
Don't worry Widdows been pulling that stunt for years on here. Replace Shogun with Mark Coleman and the tables turn suddenly in Mark's favour because Widdow has a huge man crush on him and used to carry his jock for him at the gym.
did you read the forum board BEFORE THE FIGHT? People were asking will shogun be 100% when he faces Jones: ------> Do you expect Rua to be suffering after-effects (Griffin) or top form (Machida 2)? Read some of the posts, or dont and keep believing whatever you want. A huge part of Shoguns game is good cardio, he certainly did not posses good cardio vs jones (he was gassed 4 min into the first round) of course the bodyshots took away a lot of energy from shogun and good top control as well, but if a fighter is badly gassed in the middle of the 1st round you know they dont have good cardio. I also think shoguns timing was off that flying knee by jones for instance, was to be met with a hard right hand by Rua but it was thrown too late. Their was also a coulple of times where shogun did not take advantage of some good opportunities that he had in the fight when shogun sidesteped jones spinning back kick he didn't follow through to land shots on jones, I think a top shogun would have, of course this is just speculation. shogun also had jones's back standing a coulple of times but was winded and as a result was too sloppy in his attempt on the kneebar which in turn was easily avoided by jones. Anyway its all academic now Jones won every round in that fight, shogun was never a real threat but I would like to see a rematch at some point, it is possible that it could be different. And no Chimba I dont hate shogun I just believe he can redeem himself if he was in better condition (it bothers me that when people talk about this fight who dont know Rua's incredible career they judge him based off of this fight.
Yaca you talk way too much sense for some people. Good post We had Jones 'fans' bitching about people bringing up the knee injuries before the fight. Now we have Jones fans bitching about using the knee injury as an excuse. It obviously had an effect on the outcome of the fight. How is just personal opinion.
UFC 113: This content is protected UFC 128: This content is protected I really don't see much of a difference.
People are completely missing the point again. Any version of Shogun gets destroyed. Thats the simple point. Did you even see the fight?
That left hook to the body alone was a fight ender. That one punch could have finished anyone, even if it was the first blow landed. The tap means nothing. That was a knockout blow at any point in the fight. If shogun took that shot instead of the knee in the first and went down and tapped like he did in the 3rd, I wouldn't have been suprised and still have as much respect for shogun as i do now.
like i said in another thread, it don't matter if you are a ferrari, you won't beat a mini if you ain't got no gas in the tank.
I think its simpler than that, you wont beat a ferrari if you are an accord no matter what. And note that an Accord is a respectable car. Thats Shogun right there, a very good fighter.
I just had my annual visit to the optometrist last week. If you look closely, you can see that his musculature looks almost identical in both pics. There's a slight difference that can be chalked up to different lighting and different angles of the photos. Shogun, his brother and his camp all say that he was in good shape going into the fight last Saturday, but I guess all of the butt hurt fanboys on the internet know better.
