I enjoy Hopkins' fights, people hate them of course but I enjoy watching him apply what he's doing at his age and make other younger fighters look silly. The man is 43 years old and he's in the top P4P lists, it's insane. This will be a typical Hopkins type of fight, he will look to counter Pavlik and make him look confused with his movement and sneaky attacks. Going to pick Hopkins to beat him by UD with Pavlik looking a bit like Tarver at some points, confused and frustrated.
boooooooooring but i love pav so i will put out the 50 and not care but i dont see it being that good at all..bhop makes fights ugly as **** and that wont stop here
I think Hopkins might have a bit more stamina than the Calzaghe fight because he will be able to predict Pavlik's offensive attack a bit better when compared to Calzaghe's unorthodox style which made Hopkins weary from 1-12 and he could never really counter his gameplan because it was unconventional. If that's the case, it might be a bit more exciting as Hopkins might have more stamina to be a bit busier with his workrate.
I will say slightly better than Calzaghe but boring. There isn't the southpaw element this time, so hopefully Mary will not wade in with the head so much. That was some ugly ****. Overall I think the styles should clash a little better, I'm sure Pavlik watched the fight and knows not to get suckered into the clinches as Calzaghe was prone to. Still, there is going to be a fair share of bull**** from Hopkins as usual, its the only way he survive and Pavlik won't have the experience of that to counter it and keep it exciting.
Based on the fact that every fight hopkins has ever been in, the fight has gone on his terms more or less...So I don't think pavlik will be in control the first 6 rounds or so. However, unless hopkins all of a sudden can have tremendous stamina, he'll tire tremendously and pavlik will take advantage of him in rounds 9-12. A KO then wouldn't surprise me. It'd be a fitting end to a legend's career, and an unbelievable way to pass the torch to kelly pavlik.
John David Jackson said they want Hopkins to be a lot busier than he has been in recent fights. If Bernard follows instructions, and tries to stay busier, the first 5 or 6 rounds will be all about controling the distance. Both fighters are listed at 75" of reach. Considering their respective physiques I think that translates into a significant arm length advantage for KP. Pavlik will try to maintain the distance with his jab. Bernard will try to close the gap and work inside; throw his punches and clinch. Both guys will have some success in the first several rounds. However, BHop can not fight at a Pavlik pace for more than 5 or 6 rounds. By the end of 8 rounds Hopkins will be out of gas, and Pavlik will own the ring. It will start to look like Kelly is playing pin ball. Pavlik KO10 Hopkins.
