Chris I re-read my post and you are right it comes across as too 'when' rather than 'if', but I am pretty confident they will show an interest in boxing. This is mainly from an early statement after they announced the new channel where they said they would look at any sports rights which made sense for them. This confidence increased when I saw their pricing was between £9 and £12 a month. That is too much considering their current product offering IMO. You are right to pick me up on it though - I did mean to write 'IF'. My main point was that even those who have already made the decision to sign up for the football should wait, so that ESPN continue to sweat on the subscription numbers and are forced to purchase more (hopefully boxing) content.
If they don't show any boxing then it's highly unlikely that anyone here is going to subscribe by the looks of it. If there no boxing then I'd have thought though that a stack of prewritten emails to the Chief Exec from people on here, or other sites or who have signed the Bunce petition, signed up Twitter updates etc might get a response. What's the worse that can happen?
I'll ring up the subscription number when they come about and ask if they show any boxing then when they say no I'll say no thanks and tell them to ring back when they do.
:good ESPN are distributing their channel a bit differently to Setanta did though. ESPN will not have their own call centres - everything is to go through Sky. This is one of the ways they are keeping costs down while also cosying up to Sky as more of a 'partner' than competitor.
There is no way on Earth they can fill the channel with footy. Setanta had to put Scottish Footy on most days to fill the gaps.
Has to have boxing and preferably basketball for me to sign up so will wait and see what their full offering will be
