I think the real thread on the vbookie should be whether or not there are more than 10 punches thrown per round. I wish we could see the other fights on the undercard between Cintron/Ndou and Witherspoon/Richards.
Taylor has always been a top fighter and should beat Lacy. The point being made about them being friends which will make their fight a boring one is valid. I'm thinking (maybe hoping) that it turns into an entertaining one. Both guys need this fight so I think they will go at it full speed. I think Taylor wins a clear decision or even a stoppage but the fight will be competitive. Lacy will hang in there, make Taylor work, and have plenty of his own moments. Taylor should be one of the top guys at 168-which is a good/deep division. I think Taylor vs Kessler and Bute are even match ups. I think Andrade would be a style nightmare for Taylor and I would pick Andrade there. Everyone else in the division Taylor beats. One of the fights I'd love to see most in 09 would be Taylor-Miranda.
I'm a huge Taylor fan and hope he does find success in the supermiddleweight division. I think his biggest challenge will be Kessler and I'm not sure if he can get by him, but we may find out one day!
If it is a legitimate fight, I see Tayor backing into the ropes, as he always does, and being put to sleep around the 5th round. If he got his eye closed by Winky, he will get destroyed by Lacy.
Going against the grain I see. Maybe Lacy before the Calzaghe fight but I don't think this one has enough left. I see Taylor's handspeed getting to and hurting Lacy. A Taylor stoppage is a real possibility for me. But most importantly they need to really go at it and not some sort of friendly sparring session.
That's a pretty big "if" mate. Did you see the last Lacy fight? Do you think that version of Lacy beats Taylor in 5 rounds? If Taylor doesn't win this by near shutout, it will be a big surprise. For me at least.
Yeah I saw his last fight...Mendoza is a very tough guy who can punch. He is also a much bigger guy than Taylor. Mendoza recently fought at light-heavy and cruiser. It's too bad we will never see what would really happen if both guys "threw down"!!
I wish they would...I really like this crossroads match-up on paper. I will actually be rooting for Jermain...he is a really good guy outside of the ring as well as a very tough fighter. I just don't think he handles adversity very well. If this were a real fight, he would get tested at least once.
Exactly. And forgetting that Taylor really isn't that great, more the product of HBO hype than anything. He has YET to CLEARLY win a fight over a top rated MW, let alone SMW. I think Lacy will starch the fraud. The ultimate exposure!
3 surest things on ESB: 1) Zakman chiming in on any Jermain Taylor thread and bashing him. 2) Rico Spodorko using the words, "glass jaw" 3) Borrinchao playing clips of John Ruiz get KTFO by Tua.
i know he will win this fight if it is not really a fight. My theory is that this will be a glorified sparring session...here is why: 1) They became friends as Olympic teammates and remained friends, regularly sparring one another. 2) Lacy just announced his retirement 2 days before the Taylor fight was made. My guess is that he is making one last payday and helping his friend rebuild his career at the same time. What a sham!!
