no they are called championship rounds because techinically only championship bouts are 12 rounders, the others are 10 or less.

as you can see from this official nevada state athletic commision scorecard, each round is equal in terms of scoring.

and neither can score the later rounds as 'more important' its 10-9 for gods sake. All rounds count equally unless there was a KD.

I don't buy into that idea at all, once the bell has rung both fighters should be treated the same.

  6. :good Pavlik outlanded on Taylor, backed him up controlled the fight, and JT didn't do JACK **** the last 2 or 3 rounds the fight is 12 rounds not 8, i wish it would have been a 15 rounder like the good old day's JT would have been Knocked out, Pavlik was clearly the stronger of the 2 when the final bell rang..

The fight was a back and forth technical boxing match with fighters
exchanging winning rounds up UNTIL the tenth round. Athough looking
like the more tired fighter Kelly did what he has always done. He
found a way to win; in this case the last two critical rounds of a very close fight.
That body shot that had Jermain grabbing onto Kelly to keep from
being KO'ed pretty much stopped his offense and Kelly won the last
two rounds big sealing the victory. Rarely do all five professionals
at ringside agree in a close fight. Lederman, Merchant and the three
ringside judges all had the fight for Kelly. They just disagreed on the
degree of Kelly's domination. And yes even though Merchant has his
detractors and can be annoying he has always been a good judge of
fights. Both he and Lederman are excellent boxing analysts who are
quick to jump all over bogus judging.

backing up a fighter don't mean **** if it aint effective.....on the same token, backing up aint either...but JT was scoring defensively and he was also countering...it's not like he was backing JT up with monster shots...i mean, he tried but he missed alot, i mean alot.....stalkers dont impress me when all they do is walk forward, all that showed is that JT went to the drawing board and fixed his mistakes....kelly did the same **** he always does, and i really dont think it was good enough to win last night....

It looked to me that Pavlik's powerful jabs and later in the fight
his huge bodyshots were what was backing Jermain up. I do
believe Jermain admitted he was being hurt badly by bodyshots
    in the last few rounds.

The 'problem' is in close rounds most judges will go for the guy going forward, its an easy way to score. I'm not saying its right but thats what happens. Instead of giving a 10/10 round they'll make a decision and go with the aggressor.

It could of gone either way it was a very difficult fight to judge. I actually thought it was a draw but I wouldnt have a problem with either of them pulling out a close decision.. The scorecards on the other hand were ridiculous

Mayweather would beat LaMotta with his eyes shut, even at 160lbs.

I don't care what you think TBH, I've said my piece on various threads.

Everything you've said about Pavlik landing and Taylor hitting thin air, I believe, is the other way around.

The last time I checked, over 70 people on ESB believed Taylor won the fight, although over 100 believed Pavlik.

However, most of those people are influenced by the commentators who were overhyping Pavlik to **** and are rarely in tune with the official judges anyway. According to Mario Lopez, Pavlik strolled it, but he's as much of an expert in boxing as I am - and I disagree.

Like Smith's avatar says, watch the fight again with the sound off and the fight suddenly has a different winner.
