Don't understand HBO ANYMORE! DONAIRE, PAC, etc!

I know Bazooka, we are friends on esb, just like you and I are friends on esb. I just don't agree with him on this topic.

Who did you have winning the Rios vs Abril fight?

Bazooka agreed with the decision, I thought Abril should have won.

 

I agree, the HBO cast can be very bias, however I think Kellerman did make an effort to be a little more impartial last night. I'm sure they hear all the criticism from the fans, just like the fighters, judges and referees do.

 

Question I have is how can anybody say Mathebula fought his fight we have never seen him fight.
and whats Donaires fight supposed to look like? I think people are expecting him to just knock out everybody

I didn't score it fight night and you'd have to pay me to watch it again. Well, at this point, any Abril fight. Abril clearly fought like someone that wanted the fight to go to the scorecards so he shouldn't be pissed with their decision. I do say that no one seemed to give Rios any credit for his body work which he was doing in each of the 84? clinches? Even when he would reach up and touch the underside of Abril's chin the commentators seemed to overlook it.

 

The Judges and some fans did not over look that, and also Rios's punches just simply had more thunder on them they did much more damage. when a fighter resorts to holding as part of his game especially one that has nothing on his shots, usually the judges see that not as part of your game but as a sign that the other man is getting the better of you....

 

I agree Rios didn't get credit for the work he did, I'm the biggest Brandon Rios fan on ESB. I can say that and believe it with 100% certainty, Brandon was trying to make the fight entertaining but he was just to damn tired. Even with being the biggest Brandon Rios fan on ESB, I can still say Brandon lost that fight.

Just being honest.

Thats fine, thats the fight you saw, him being tired has alot to do with the holding, I often score rounds especially close rounds to the guy who is doing what he can to make it a fight, Abril didnt even look to me like he was trying to make it a boxing match.

To me Abril looked like he was simply trying to do something quick early it backfired and plan B was simply to hold on for the rest of the night. nothing in what he did was boxing from a technical standpoint.

 

They are usually decently biased, but in these 2 instances.. What are you talking about?!
Steward thought Bradley was gonna win, or it be very close leading up to the fight. The other announcers gave Bradley a ton of credit, and in the first few rounds it didn't seem like they were leaning for Pac that much. I thought Pac had to punch the hell out of Bradley to finally get the announcers to sway in his favor......

As for the Donaire fight. They built Mathebula up, as being a 2nd half beast, and gave him pretty good credit. Of course they thought Donaire would win, but I thought they gave the african plenty of respect. Also, they all said the fight was close, and much closer than the judges.

HBO announcers are plenty biased though. I love when there being biased towards one fighter, completely ignoring him, and praising the other guy. Then, suddenly the guy KNOCKS HIM OUT! and they eat crow.
This fights weren't an example of any of that IMO

 

Actually had Molina ahead slightly, Kirkland was coming on late though stoppage was bull****.

But there is a big difference between that fight and Abril, Molina was effective enough to stop Kirkland from just rushing him he actually stopped James in his tracks from time to time and this guy isnt a heavy hitter either.

 

I can score fights much easier in a small venue so I try not to criticize ringside judges much.

 

Molina held, clinched and then held again all night though. He incorporated the clinching into his strategy al la John Ruiz, he certainly held as much if not more then Abril.

Anyways I could agree with your last post, I'm just not able to quote it for some reason :huh This post, although somewhat hypocritical, as far as the clinching goes. I can still agree Molina was sticking James and even stunning him a couple times, but the holding so was just as ridiculous imo.
