Don't understand MMA Fans-Dana White...

in America you mean.

In japan it was strong, pride was huge, bigger than the ufc at that time.

dana white did much to uplift mma, that is fact. the ufc brought mma to mainstream north America and beyond. made stars out of chuck liddel and couture and GSP. Made them some money too.

but read what you just wrote "saved MMA." thats when dana love goes too far, they give dana ALL the credit. I think the frettitas buying the company had something to do with it the succsess, I think the fighters like matt hughes and chuck liddel had something to do with it.

dana white gets hate for the other **** he does like bashing fighters not under his contracts, talking trash about other orgs and tryng to stamp out competition.

it doesnt help that people unreasonably defend his every action, his every profane word!

that is the worst of it to me, otherwise smart people who chose to stick with losing arguments and baseless statements simply because their hero dana white said it first.

If most people treated him as the promoter he is, and not give credibility to what he says, it would be easier to ignore his bull**** as him just doing his job. so some of the flack he gets is not directly his fault.

he also likes to act like a tough guy that can be irritating.

Dana White is a business man BUT he's done great things for the sport. I like him much more than I hate him.

 

I like how people defend/excuse how dana conducts himself by simply calling him a "business man". *sarcasm off*

I think as adults(assuming we are all adults) we are expected to hold others responsible for their words and actions.

lets stop pretending that dana white is linked to mma in such a way that any objection to him is a objection to the sport.

Dana white did not create MMA and long after he is gone it will still exist. I owe him no allegence, he made his money for the effort he put in to the ufc and then some.

Im a fan of MMA as a sport not a organiziation or one man.

I dont hate dana white I simply hold him responsible for the harsh things he says about others, particularly fighters.

Because simply put he did not. All Dana did was bring the UFC to a wider audience thats it. MMA's success as a sport is not in the slightest soley attributed to Dana.
As for saving it thats just rubbish. MMA has been succesful throughout the world notably Japan, Brazil and Russia. PRIDE had record numbers in attendance at its events that the UFC hasnt even come close to.

 

He's "greatness" though is almost equivalent to Don Kings stranglehold on boxing from the 70's to the 90's.

 

He isn't perfect and him acting like a child on occassion isn't great but on the flipside if he didn't act like that then we wouldn't have an honest and outspoken President of the UFC. It's a double edged sword. If I need to see the odd outburst so I can see honesty and accessibility for 99% of the time then it's something I'm willing to do. I don't agree with everything he says and does but generally he says it like he sees it. He doesn't want to put on **** fights, he wants the best to fight the best etc No one is perfect but generally he does his job and he does it very well.

Note: You are implying I'm against alot of what you say. I'm not. Dana didn't create MMA however he is the President of the most powerful organisation in MMA so that means alot.

 

see I dont find white to be all that honest I dont think he belives most to the negitive things he says about his competition, and fighters like the **** he always talked about fedor.

I agree, when he is talking about the competition he becomes way too much of a business man. He makes out Fedor is **** and SF has no good fighters but then he'll try to sign Fedor and he'll try to take Shields, Melendez etc from SF
