Make no mistake I'm a huge Cotto fan and I was gutted that he lost but also the way he lost. He got beaten up.

But why did he keep on letting himself get attacked on the ropes. I know Margarito hunted him down like prey but at times there was no need. And the last thing you do against that mutha is let him attack you, no matter if they're hitting arms, legs - they're still busting you up.

Well, if you check through alot of the posts here on ESB you'll notice that several of the people picking Margarito were saying that Cotto didn't have the mobility and stamina to do a Willie Pep all night. It's not like nobody expected it. Miguel Cotto moved as much as Miguel Cotto could. He did his best. It wasn't enough.

I do understand fool but the stamina meant either a poor tactical decision or his training wasn't up to it. He was still going in the eleventh against Zab. He was using the ropes all through the damn fight and inviting the pressure, that ****ing annoyed me.

He was a fighter at heart not a master boxer like some people would like to believe. His pride also let him exchange with Margarito which was suicide.

I think at some points he stayed there because he wanted to slip and counter. Funny thing is that those momments early in the fight probably won him those rounds. But those were only at the starting of the fight. By the end of the fight he had no choice. And I think what Steward said near the end about the ropes being one step away from the floor was true. Its more like he was being beatten into the floor and the ropes was just a place he got beatten to before he got finished.

A dumbass? Cotto's the ****ing dumbass. He knows Margarito gets stronger and stronger as the fight wears on. This pride **** does nothing for me. Engage when you have to not when your heart wants to.

The training camp thing could have some weight to it. Eary in his career there was a period when he didn't show up in great a shape. But he's past that now. I don;t think that was the problem. He was eating a lot of **** to the body. Early. And he didn't invest enough to the body himself. This was probably to aviod some heavy shots though.

He came in looking as good as he's ever looked. SO I wouldn't goo acting like the cotto of another fight would have done better.

I seen somethin' at the fight I may elaborate on later to reinforce your point. But for now, yeah-I'd love to say the guy shoulda kept movin'-but he was already Joggin' circles in the ring more or less. As mentioned, I'm not sure anyone else could've done it better.

I know he engaged but after six rounds he did not fight a smart fight. He let himself get involved when he knew that Margarito was the stronger of the two. The initial body shot that shook him should've been a wake up call.

First 6 rounds I had him 4-2. From there on in he went into meltdown.

I dont understand it myself, but as i've said in other posts. Margo has a way of getting you to fight his fight rather then stick to your plans.

You cant let pride affect your judgements if you wanna stay undefeated. As Calzaghe and PBF.
