Dorticos might be ruined for good

    In boxing, a single punch can change a career.

    Meldrick Taylor gave his all vs Chavez, but ran out of gas in the last rd and got dropped heavily by a right hand bomb.

    He never was the same fighter after that dramatic ending.

    When boxers with good beards get stopped, especially after a prolonged beating, they're never the same thereafter, and i suspect Dorticos, a champion used to soak up punishment, wil never have the same punch resistance as in his previous bouts now that Gassiev cracked his chin.

    Maybe. Some guys are just built to suck up shots though. He could be like McCall or Mercer.

    Not so fast travolt! How many opponents will he have in the future that will make it out of the first 3rd of the fight with him?

    Remember, most of his KO's come in the first few rounds, he'll feast on some guys like Chakhkiev, Mchunu, Bejenaru, Masternak, Makabu or Durodola, get some quick brutal KO's and be right back in the mix, with his head right back in the game.

    That's the downside with best vs best tournaments. If Joshua cracks Parker, he will get cracked again by less punchers.

    He took a fair beating. He took about 20 shots when more or less defenseless.

    Gassiev has frightening power.

    I have no idea why Dorticos' corner didn't throw the towel after the second kd; he was done as turkey without a glimmer of a hope to reverse the situation. Those last shots were totally unnecessary.

    Very unfair comment. Dorticos' chin is very good. He took those bombs for nearly the whole fight and didn't wobble until the final 5 minutes.

    I highly doubt Dorticos is "ruined for good". He's a tough out for anyone at 200 and under.

    You can't ruin a fighter as good as Dorticos in only one fight! I want him to move up, he would be a good addition to heavyweight division.

    I think Dorticos will not lose any punch resistance from this loss for his next fight, he may however lose a bit of confidence in himself and its that mental side to his first KO loss which is more damaging. He doesnt though look like a fighter who has much self doubt and should not suffer mentally.

    With Dorticos' punch resistance its going to take another 2-3 fights of that type of punishment before we start seeing a deterioration. He is a top 5 CW no doubt about that. If he went up to HW then there is no doubt he would do some damage at that division too.

    The point is Dorticos' been in many wars, one of them being Kalenga, an absolute bender where he cried after winning, and all of these shots have an accumulation effect.

    How can you call it glass? No one in the division has shown a chin like that beside Lebedev. If that’s glass I need my car windows to be made of that stuff.
