The obvious difference is Meldrick Taylor was actually winning his fight against an ATG until he was given horrible advice by Duva, told to attack when he should have coasted to a SD.

I mean, that has to be not only physically but mentally damaging to know you were 4 seconds away from retaining your belts against a legend like Chavez.

Pounding aside, edging that fight would have bettered his legacy and likely kept his confidence up.

Gassiev has ruined or ended his last five opponents careers so why not Dorticos as well?

    Wlodarczyk
    Lebedev
    Shimmel
    Thomas

Joshua v Parker may play out like Gassiev v Dorticos. Parker like Dorticos with ineffective somewhat looping punches hitting arms and guard, the Joshua like Gassiev with a tighter defense waiting for the opportunity it land those hard punches by picking the holes.

He’ll have some rice and beans and fried pork chops and walk it off. Don’t worry, he’ll be fine.

Oh I totally agree mate, that his chin held up for twelve rounds speaks for his toughness but after that second knockdown his punch resistance will never be the same again.
It was awful to see him at the presser just after being KOd like that, emotionally he was shot to bits and I’ve no doubt it was to do with brain damage?

That's the best case scenario and one that I hope you're right on. Just impossible to know with this sport sometimes.

Dorticos definitely isn't packing Cuban Glass. In fact, I'm highly suspicious he's even Cuban at all, I think it's very likely he's from somewhere in Central America and his parents moved to Cuba when he was a young boy.

It's not like Cuba as a geographic location has something to do with their boxers' chins. :) And those black Cuban boxers are not aborigines of Cuba anyway — they are of African origins anyway, obviously. In fact, only about 10% of Cuban citizens are Afro-Cubans.
So if a lot of Cuban professional boxers nowadays have weak chin (have they?) it's not because water or air is different there :) it's just how Cuban boxing system works — which selection criteria they use.

Every human being that was born on the island of Cuba has a Roy Jones-esque glass mandible. Every single one of them bar Dorticos who I'm all but certain wasn't born in Cuba.

All Cubans have glass jaws. Fact. I have no idea why that is but it's definitely true. Maybe there is something in the water over there.

    I doubt it. I think it's Survivorship bias (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Survivorship_bias).
