I've just recently started using my double end bag again (after letting sit at my mom's place for the last 6 months) and I've found that it works much better when it's placed below my chin. It seems to come right back instead of doing much "bobbing" as it did when it was placed at my eye level. I know boxers are taught to punch higher, but when I watched other double end bag vids on the net, I found that many pros were actually hitting the DEB at around their shoulder level. Peep Roy Jones at around the halfway mark of this vid.

What height works best of y'all. Thanks for your input.

The height I have my bag at is at exactly shoulder level when I punch in my fighting stance.

Ironic timing for your post. Just last night I was experimenting with heights of my DEB.

I read somewhere that the bag should be same height as your head, so I raised mine up from shoulder level to head level.

I noticed the bobbing you are talking about, and also that my punches would land nearer the bottom of the bag, and that I hit the cord when I missed.

I was thinking of lowering it down and loosening it up a bit for a slower, wider sway. Right now its fairly tight and the wobble is very quick and shallow. Very difficult to hit.

Also, with the shallower wobble, it never comes back far enough to hit me...which might make me lazy.

keep the bag at the height level that is more comfortable with you, this will allow to punch the bag and give you true back mobility results:think

After some experimenting with bag height recently, I've moved it to about shoulder height (while standing). In boxing stance its close to head level.

Rebounds are good, bag movement is good, punches land well.

I had it too high and none of those things were working for me.

    Will post a video soon.
