what was witnessed on Saturday night is a unique event only seen every 20 or so years. In wrestling terms this is called a "Double Face Turn". This is when a heel (bad guy) wrestles a face (good guy) in a ppv match of a long feud. At the beginning of the match the face has all the fan support and the heel gets the boo's. During the match something happens (i.e. the face shows an unusual amount of aggression and the heel displays an unusual amount of courage resulting in the fan support to switch. For those of you old enough to remember, the last time this happened was Wrestlemania 13, March 1997 when Bret Hart wrestled Stone Cold Steve Austin in a submission match with Ken Shamrock as referee. Wrong sport I know but thought I would highlight this to you.
Well I'm still fuming as I'm sitting over the absolute shitshow last weekend. I've never been this pissed off after a fight, for so long, ever. Need to let it go now lol...
I think I remember the undertaker and Sgt Slaughter pulling the same thing. To this day I'm still sure wrestling is fixed. I guess we'll never know.
It was actually a double turn (Bret Hart had been getting booed before then). So technically if Bret Hart is Carl Froch then Froch is the heel. And I don't think Froch wants to be the bad guy.
The rate boxing is going I wouldn't be surprised in the rematch to see the judges distracting the ref while Eddie Hearn clocks groves round the head with a steel chair.
Haha. Was thinking Rock vs Hogan, Wrestlemania 2002 when I read the title lol. Not that Hogan was booed much to be fair.
Cant believe rockys "if I can change and you can change.....everybody can change" moment hasnt been given a mention
Actually it was not a 'double face turn', it was a 'double turn'. Groves went from villain to face; Froch face to villain. Think POP/Demolition in the 88 Survivor Series...
