Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said that negotiations look "promising" for WBC welterweight (147) titlist Andre Berto, of Winter Haven, Fla., to face southpaw junior welterweight (140 pounds) contender Victor Ortiz, of Oxnard, Calif., as part of an HBO televised, April 16, split-site double-header that will include WBA junior welterweight king Amir Khan fighting from his native England.

Khan will likely work over Peterson with little problem. I can only hope Berto beats down that cry baby Ortiz and knocks him out of the sport.

    Good card though.

Unless I'm mistaken Berto is supposed to be the welterweight champ. Why is he fighting a 140 pounder?

Ortiz blows up to 156 on fight nights, so it's a fair matchup for me. It's not like Berto is a huge welter anyway. If this card comes to fruition, I would hope that Berto would headline, since the other fight is a bigger mismatch. Lamont Peterson is a perfectly solid fighter, but doesn't have near the fire-power to give Khan trouble. It will be interesting to see the 1st common opponent for Bradley/Khan though.

It's ****ing shite, in my opinion. Berto's fighting a 140lb fighter who has troubles with his chin at that weight. Hm, I wonder what's going to happen? Grow some ****ing balls, Berto. Fight someone your own weight instead of stepping into Mayweather territory.

And Khan/Peterson is just so uninspiring, but I guess it has to be made.

They want to save his virginity for Pacquiao....that's the only appealing quality on him at this time.
