the double kinda sticks your lower jaw out a bit. I feel the single lets you tuck in your chin better but then again since you put both sets top and bottom right into a double piece your jaw feels secure. But the thing is you still don't have your teeth and jaw clenched down as close together as when you have a single. Idk i guess its preference but its kinda hard to favor either or.

Doubles can be huge and the ones I have worn always seem to fit one side of my jaw differently than the other.

are there different size singles cus I've used a few singles but they seemed a little big or just not snug enough and totally uncomfortable.

What brand are you using? And are you placing them in just boiled water long enough?

everlast..yeah I threw the thing in water as long as I could.. it just seems like the piece isn't the right size for me. I got a double and it fits perfectly but I'd rather have a single that fit comfortable because the double does feel big.

What I would do if I were you- just buy several different brands, cough up the money and see what works for you. Then, go with exclusively that brand. Its a good investment if you plan on boxing.

Double mouthpieces make it very hard to breath and it's very uncomfortable.

I actually have a double that works wonders. You can get them nowadays with breathing slots in the middle.

Besides, if you start breathing through your mouth and not through your nose....you have alot more to worry about than your mouthpiece.

Single works just fine for me. Worked when I was playing rugby too.
