:good too many people just adopt this formula without question : if a big guy beats a little guy it's because the little guy was at a disadvantage with the extra weight, which isn't always the case. but if a little guy cuts through a few weight classes he's automatically seen as the exception to that simply because he won.
I don't see any double standard. Hopkins gets credit for beating good fighters, Hagler gets more credit for beating even better fighters. That's it.
It's because Hagler pulled his socks up to his knees, whereas Hopkins didn't. [yt]A9qRQRTJYm0[/yt] [yt]rR1zafmFX5g[/yt]
Wow.. I'm sure you had pointed out Tito was blown up coming up to the fight. Didnt you? :hey That fight to me was as pure a boxing clinic as it can get. Hopkins showed immense skill and defence, completely neutralized Tito's left hook, and literally took him to school. I honestly don't see how anyone that appreciates the science of boxing can find this fight boring. :rasta
Because people are dumb and biased. After Hopkins has retired he will be appreciated more. Happens all the time.
Both men deserve credit, and both men get credit. The only morons I see on here degrading Hopkins's magnificent win over Trinidad are little Calzaghe fanboys who have a rod up their asses for B-Hop. Both Trinidad and Hearns proved they were big enough for middleweight, and both were effective at the weight (or higher, in Hearns's case).
Hopefully some idiots on here will appreciate Hopkins more too but real fans give him his credit. That and his fights with Joppy & Echols 2. How the hell were they boring that's why I don't believe that Hatesrats has seen alot of Hopkins. He should change his name to HatesHopkins.
What about the Titov/Loskov double standard boxed, that's the one that annoys me.Where do you stand on that.
well, i read the thread and i see no point in your response... you don't have to be such an impressive ******* next time
Hopkins bullied Tarver around the ring, Hagler stayed at MW all his career. Hopkins also beat up Glen Johnson who later had better LHW wins than Hearns. Oh and how does giving away a winnable fight against SRL qualify as beating the **** out of everybody?
Hagler NEVER claimed any desire to move up.What he did want was to break Monzon's then record for most consecutive middleweight defenses and to be recognized as one of the greatest middleweights ever. And Hagler was shot when he fought Leonard, which Leonard knew full well and is why he ducked Hagler for so long. And Leonard is the only fighter that Hagler "didn't beat" the **** out of that he fought.
