In Britain we have 2 stand out fights at the minute that coud be made. Khan vs Brook and Quigg vs Frampton. The vast majority of British boxing fns want to see both, but what I struggle to understand is why the fighters causing the issues, as far as the fights being made goes, are being treated differently. All I have seen on here mainly in the last 2 days and even the last couple of months or more, is Khan being slated for not taking the fight with Brook. I'm not here to defend him on the part as I would love to see the fight. However the Quigg vs Frampton is clearly being held up by Frampton, the issues are surrounding his team and Quigg and Matchroom are the ones chasing the fight. Credit to Eddie also for trying to make these fights as many others haven't and wouldn't. Frampton was quite happy bad mouthing Quigg in NI, when he had his team all round him and Quigg was on his own but now its come to negotiations they are either holding it up or just don't want the fight at all, and I fear its the latter. Frampton and Khan are no different in this scenario, they have both talked but have failed to make the fight but the Matchroom fighters are the ones chasing the fights. Don't get me wrong I like all 4 guys in this, so I'm not hating on anyone, but I just don't like the double standards surrounding the two very similar scenarios. What do you guys think? :good
in terms of Frampton and quigg, quigg is coming back from an injury, i;m not sure if he's fit yet, but as far as i can see no formal offers been made by matchroom to Frampton, ie MEN arean July 2million quid etc. There's an issue of who is the bigger name and where the most money will be made Ie Belfast or Manchester + Frampton would want it on ITV i think and eddie will want it ppv on sky. eddie does appear to have offered khan a fight, with Wembley provisionally booked and khan turned it down to fight algeiri. Khan fights on sky as does brook so the TV contract thing can't be an issue either.
I think it's pretty clear that Frampton wishes to fight a voluntary on ITV to get his profile up and would prefer the Quigg fight in the Autumn. I don't genuinely see why that fight has to happen before the Summer break.
Well there was no official offer made in either fight. There is no TV issue as Frampton had a one fight deal with ITV but obviously more can be arranged. TV isn't an issue with either guy, Quigg has stated he will be okay to fight and therefore they cant be used as excuses. The thing that bothers me though is that Quigg who yes hasn't fought great opposition, a point that no one can debate, but he is still receiving the stick out of the two when he is the one chasing but with Khan and Brook where, Brook realistically only has one more better opponent than Quigg in a much deeper division, yet Brook is seen as someone who will fight anyone and Khan is getting complete opposite treatment to Frampton.
differances between brook and quigg brook - real world champion in a hot division quigg - won his world title in a collect 10 crisp packets and send them away competition brook - actually has fans and can sell tickets, fight makes sense in england quigg - no fans, couldnt sell out a small hall show brook - no sure of the money split but id still see khan more than likely taken the bigger share quigg - hearn seems to think the split is 50-50 which is delusional. So frampton brings a world title, a huge fan base, can sell tickets and quigg brings a speech impediment the thing is mcguigan and carl said the fight would be made if hearn and quigg were realistic about their situation, they aren't they expect the fight to be in manchester,on sky, with a 50-50 split i think thiers a reason why hearn didn't go with quigg to belfast he knew that barry would have him by the ***** if he tried to start saying the fight should be in manchester instead he sent quigg over on his own to embarress himself
Quigg has said he will fight anywhere, Hearn has suggested 60/40 split for the winner, cant say any fairer than that. The fight should be on Sky, everyone makes much more money with it being on Sky and it would be idiotic not to do it on Sky quite frankly. The thing is I am not necessarily trying to compare and contrast Quigg and Brook, more Khan and Frampton as they are both doing the exact same thing, yet Khan gets tons of abuse and Frampton? Not a thing. I like Frampton a lot, I think he is a superb fighter, but the McGuigans, mainly Barry, are vile. Their little snide comments in the ring were out of order, their inability to negotiate with anyone, quite frankly Barry thinks he is the dogs *******s just because he held a world title for a few years, he's so far up his own **** its ridiculous. He was a very good fighter I am not disputing that but I think he carries a chip on his shoulder because of that, something I have heard being mentioned before.

An ITV fight between them with a good build up will make one of them a huge star ok then frampton - world champion, fights good comp khan - not world champion, fights hand picked featherfisted fighters and say that real world champions havn't earned the right to fight with him Barry is vile? omg now your showing your true colours, so what happened to hearn saying they will get the martinez fight before him? i guess barry couldnt negotiatie with martinez could he not? made hearn look right stupid. So in Britain Matchroom fighters are not making the most money? Yes they are, Sky is currently where the money is at, it will be PPV, not as a stand alone but alongside another big fight I assume. How does Frampton fight good competition? Certainly not better than Khan, that again is a ridiculous statement, Martinez is Framtpons only world level victory and that is a guy who was beaten twice by Rendall Munroe who was a good European level fighter. And Frampton is saying similar things about Quigg in that he doesn't deserve to fight him? Rubbish statement both achieved as much, only difference being Frampton has a more credible belt, but neither has set the world alight. My point on the negotiation was that he doesn't seem willing to negotiate with Hearn, maybe you misunderstood what I said or I didn't elaborate correctly, but he seems to think he is in control of everything, again reference to me saying he has a chip on his shoulder still, living on something accomplished in the mid to late 80's. I don't have an issue with an ITV, to be honest I don't care what channel it is on as long as the fight is made, because it my view it is a genuine 50/50 where I cant pick a winner. Every fighter wants as much money as possible for every fight they have, Sky is currently generating the most money for the fighters, therefore it is to happen it will be on Sky. I don't have any issue or bias with either fighter, as I have said I do dislike McGuigan, that's my opinion, what he said in the ring in Belfast was disrespectful and im sure even you cant dispute that, and the thing is I guarantee he wouldn't have said that anywhere in England on a Quigg show.
Big Abdul from Sky informs me that there are issues with TV scheduling and negotiations are proving difficult.. There is the Pac v Money PPV, the 30th May O2 show and the Khan fight is 90% certain to be a PPV package and there is likely to be a Brook PPV in the summer subject to opponent. Abdul informs me that his boss at Sky also wants the Frampton v Quigg fight to be a PPV event and the fight may have to be scheduled for September/October. Sky know the feelings of customers towards PPV events and four in a short period could lead to significant numbers of loyal customers cancelling subscriptions. Big Abdul also suggested not to rule out a joint headline PPV event for Frampton v Quigg, Brook v TBA with the undercard including Anthony Joshua v Can 13.
