It still doesnt quite do what it says on the tin, I liked the idea as I enjoy british boxing but it's delivering more international fights which im not as interested in. Its good now you can pay on a monthly basis, Im sure i'll subscribe soon!
For me the single biggest obstacle standing in their way is how to get new fans/casuals into the sport. The International cards are great, and I applaud them for that. But how do you build a young British fighter on Boxnation? The Haye/Chisora fight might bring in a load of casuals, but it won't keep them watching. Cleverly, who couldn't sell out a cinema, Burns who is the worlds quietest man, and Groves and DeGale, who can only generate excitement by fighting each other? And what happens when they are all exposed/retired/gone? Chisora is the cash cow at BN, and he could be in the rearview mirror if Haye beats him. All of them were built on Sky. I don't care about lack of HD, cheap production or even the hassle of Paywizard (which needs to be gone by Haye/Chis), but I do care about domestic boxing and the future of the our already marginalised sport.
I always said give it a chance, this is exactly what we wanted etc. Most of the ****ers on here just like a moan.
All good points my friend :good I really think the way forward is for them to do some sort of weekly highlights show with a terrestrial channel. That way it promotes the channel and it offers up the boxers to a casual audience. The highlights show would almost certainly have bigger viewing figures than any of the actual fights on BN. :deal
I'm enjoying boxnation at the moment but Haye/Chisora IMO is just embarrassing....just seen the presser on sky sports news. Frank ****** is gonna be rolling in it for two guys acting like children and its making me re-think about BN. He's desperate, the two fighters need a fence to face each other,i think he's lost it and will lose viewers on BN soon enough. Is this the 'british' boxing we want to see? not for me:-( thats me assuming that its gonna be on BN?
Thats the key I think. Either show undercards for free, have more freeviewing during the week, or get a decent tie-in with another channel. A lot of my mates still don't know Boxnation exists, but they will watch Maloney cards on Channel 5 and ask about Kid Gallahad etc. They could even let Bunceys boxing hour be syndicated to another channel if somebody would have it!
