It's great for Fury’s mindset and approach if he keeps hearing from people inc pundits saying Wilder is going to spark him out. It's when everyone predicts an easy fight for him that he struggles to look good.

Exactly. The concern for me is that he wouldn't have been hearing this until recently, until maybe people had cottoned on to the fact he may not have prepared as diligently as for the second bout. Therefore, it might be too late.

Saying that, even an undercooked but focused and motivated Fury should have enough versatility and class to be able to nullify one single weapon in the Wilder right hand.

He is definitely at his best when his back is against the wall and when he has prepared accordingly as the underdog. This time people have been blowing smoke up his arse until the eleventh hour and now the roles have suddenly reversed.

Got to say mate regardless of this fight outcome, I think we are going to get the mother of all excuses for losing the fight.

Should Fury lose, the meltdown on here will ripple through the forum louder than an Andy Ruiz belch

If Fury loses, then he only has himself to blame. Yes, circumstances regarding his daughter are not his own doing, but there is no way a man of his ability, and winning record against Wilder, should balls things up bad enough to lose to Wilder. He has enough experience and has had enough time to prepare for the bout. He doesn't keep in shape, no matter what he says, and that is his own fault.

Whoever wins will deserve it. I will give credit to Wilder if he does manage to knock Fury out.

Whatever happens, the heavyweight division will move forward with excitement. Plenty of exciting matches for the loser of this one and the loser will still be in contention to win belts. I really don't agree with the Wilder retirement talk should he lose. He's only lost to Fury, which is hardly a disaster.

Fury should be applauded for making the fight more interesting than it should be.

If he’d prepared properly there wouldn’t be any doubt in the result, but turning up to fight as the fat man who wears his t shirt in the swimming pool he’s at least put doubt in some peoples minds.

I still don’t see him losing, but if he does he’s only got himself to blame.

Y'know I'm getting a feeling that there's been some kind of shift in momentum going into this similar to Usyk - AJ were for months I was confident AJ would be too big and powerful but as we got closer and closer to fight time started to feel like it was more and more like a 50/50 perhaps Usyk a slight favourite.
Same things happening for me again with Fury - Wilder. Doesn't feel like a borderline foregone conclusion for Tyson anymore and while still think TF is definitely the favourite the calmness Wilder has displayed as well as the extra muscle mass has narrowed the odds for me.

Could be all hype and getting taken in by Fury's mind games but this might be closer and more competitive than what many of us including myself were expecting

After the second bout, the gulf between Fury and Wilder looked to diverge exponentially, but then with the lockdowns and all of that, it was clear that the momentum Fury had was gone. That video of him at the beach, which was not even that long ago, all but confirmed that his talk about living the life was a lot of nonsense.

I agree that things have actually started to converge. It seems like this matchup is in Fury's hands. If he comes in 100% committed and serious, there's not much chance he will lose, but I don't know. I also think Wilder has got under his skin, and not the other way around. Wilder's own delusion is actually doing him a lot of favours, I feel. The only thing that I see differently from you is that the Wilder weight gain, I feel, can't be a good thing for him. He already has the power to knock anybody out, so I don't see the benefit in gaining weight.

Wilder said at the weigh in last night that the extra weight was for extra strength to prevent a repeat of the last fight when he got overpowered and drained in the clinch.

I heard that, and boasting about benching 350lbs as if that's really impressive for a 35 year old heavyweight boxer who's been training consistently for about 15 years.

Do you reckon that will actually help him? If it helps him in the clinch, which I doubt it will considerably, it might affect his general stamina more. He already looked like he couldn't handle the weight he was at in the second bout. He is basically two stones heavier than the first bout, which is quite a lot of lean body mass (looks like not much fat or water) to gain between the ages of 33 and 36.

Wilder always has a good puncher's chance.
But I suspect Fury will destroy him in the early rounds.

He already tried that. He was 231 last time, up from 212.

Upper body strength doesn't help much in a clinch if you have no strength and weight in the lower body.

Bench press is a great exercise but it is performed lying on your back.

Wilders second knockdown in the last fight looked more from him being tired than hurt. He won't last 8 rounds. Either he wins by then or fury puts him down again.

If the extra weight helps his mentality and confidence and gives him a slight boost in physical strength maybe it will be a positive for Wilder but then again might just make him tire faster, we'll see.
