The key word is AMERICAN. He would've had more exposure.

In Joe's prime, with better hands he would've beat Hopkins with ease, much easier than even did. Roy Jones, he would've lost to imo. James Toney? Whoever knows with James Toney, Most likely would've won a decision just based on volume.

Goes without saying, really. Not even open for debate.

Calzaghe is a great b'cause he had great skills, flashy hands, quick feet and reflexes, good boxing I.Q., ability to adjust, and great, great stamina and conditioning but you cannot praise such a guy who never punched according to law, a guy who personalized his punches, winding them up and losing power doing so in favour of volume, slapping his way through. No american fighter would leave his arms hanging like that and then hitting the target without coming from close to his own upper body.

Calzaghe was and will forever be unknown and underrated because he made a career fighting nobodies in Wales. Skin color has nothing to do with it. You know there's a major problem when a man with 40 fights celebrates beating another man with 20 fights like it's his career defining moment.

Because all the big fights and events take place in America. You have to make it in America to be recognized globally. Many will take this as an insult but that's just reality.

If we're being real there's deff some truth to this..

Like him or not Joe was a natural born winner and could adapt better then anyone I ever seen

    46-0 and none are controversial

What a load of ****, yet again.

edit. And I do NOT agree with TS. Joe was barely recognized at Europe. Absolutely unknown among average fight fan.

Says the simple minded bumpkin, want your worthless ass freely educated yet again only to resort to pitiful name callings and desperate cheap e-jibes?. Care to explain why the likes of Hatton, Khan, Benn, Froch, Lewis, Honeyghan, Bruno, Hamed and many more moved to America at some point in their careers?. Hell even Calzaghe eventually made it there to fight senior citizens.

Simple minded bumpkin and bringing up name calling...?

Anyway... Hattons and Khan Benns etc fought in USA because there were competition in their respected weight class. There are several weight classes out there where America has no high profile fighters and the fact American clearly isnt the mecca of boxing what it used to be. Boxing is not mainstream sport there anymore.

I have longer version of this post I saved it if you wanted to read it. There were some replies for the name calling. :D

I agree with you with Joe when he was super middle.. Joe did NOT want to test himself. But since then and Joe's shamefull super middleweight reign times has changed alot and in many different weigth divisions.

Joe, Nigell B, Eubank they were all little bit frauds.

Edit. Btw why did you call me bumbkin? I dont live in countryside and I am not farmer or anything. I work at cities as technician and I have educated myself as engineer. Did you judge me on what I do for hobbies, hunting/fishing/off-road riding with bikes. Not that I took it offence.

I wouldn't consider Nigel Benn and Eubank as frauds to be honest. They both tested each other and fought each other. Eubank fought Calzaghe when he was semi-retired and inactive as well which proves he was willing to fight anyone. Both Benn and Eubank proved themselves which is why they're generally respected and well-known.
