Care to show me some examples and comparisons?

I thought Cotto's footwork and foot speed was very good against Margarito. :think

I know Floyd really doesn't want to fight Cotto, but he was told that he was either going to fight someone competitive, or he was not going to get is Boxing License and have to go to Jail right then.

What do those fights have to do with anything?

They could have happened at any time in his career.

He came back and destroyed Margarito. Its not like he suffered anay long term damage from either of those defeats, unlike Margarito.

I think hes a different fighter. I dont know about better. The guys only 31, always turns up in great condition and is a world champ,I dont see why anyone would say hes suddenly way past his best.

In my opinion Floyd beats this version of Cotto, the 2007 version on Cotto and any other version of Cotto for that matter.

This is an interest theory I would like to hear more of. Do you have any examples where you believe such a strategy has been carried out before?

Technically he is better. Its physically that you could question.

cotto has more mileage, and involved in damaging wars and lost a couple of times in a stoppage. i fancy his chance more in 2008 than now. cotto is more confident, relentless and fearless back then. the only thing cotto might have learned now is he knows how to clinch when he is in trouble but it did not matter against pac.

They didn't happen at any other time, they happened after 2007.

Those fights physically diminished Cotto and he has never looked the same since, especially the Margo fight.

He came back and got a gift stoppage on Margo, who came into the fight with 1 eye, and was still able to land and start exerting pressure on Cotto when they stopped the fight.

Cotto is past his best because he is damaged and physically declining hard from the very tough beatings he took in his career one at the plastered hands of Margarito and the other from Manny.

I agree with you Floyd beats any version of Cotto, but 2007 Cotto would have had a better shot than this version of Cotto.

I would be hard pressed to say that this Cotto is better. For starters, he has taken two hellacious beatings so he has very clearly isn't physically or mentally the same. Secondly, while he has looked very quick in recent fights, keep in mind who he has been fighting. A walking punching bag in one-eyed Margarito (who very clearly is not the same fighter), a way past it Mayorga, and a one legged Yuri Foreman who was never that special to being with.

Cotto has made some technical adjustments but these positives are highlighted and easier to apply when the competition is weak. I would love to see how well he adjusts to a fighter that has better physical qualities and boxing brain than himself.

cotto has to be one of the worst 154 champs in recent times.

who has he beaten at 154?

154-160 is the worst division i have seen in the last 30 years.

    spot-on.

anyone who says this cotto is in the best shape of his career is either someone from his team or a floyd fan who is desperately trying to hype cotto in the event of a floyd win.

Margo and Floyd are two completely different fighters with different strengths and weaknesses. So what if some think Margo has Cotto's number, it happens in this sport. But fact is, Cotto beat Margo and has regained his confidence. Thats all that really matters. You can also say that brutal asswhooping Margo got in the process of beating Cotto took his prime away as well. :think

You obviously didn't watch the second cotto-margarito fight. Cotto's trainer - Pedro Diaz - is probably the most experienced and best physical conditioning expert in Boxing History. He'll have Cotto ready. Count on it.
