Absolute bull**** Margarito asked for a rematch in the ring. When Goosen was asked about a rematch his reply was " Margarito is in our past not our future, no there will be no rematch" I was there I heard it for myself:patsch

margarito fought shane in jan '09

williams had the hbo date for nov '08 which is the one they offered to margarito.

they had to take margarito to court to get the fight in the first place.

all the l.a. writers played it like it was a close fight when it was nothing of the sort. williams wanted cotto and floyd which is what he deserved after beating margarito. arum and haymon had other plans for cotto and mayweather.

arum gave cotto to margarito....and floyd did his thing. williams was left without a dance partner. this was the beginning of him starting to move up in weight in search of an opponent because no one at 147 wanted to fight him.

first of all he sounds like a fangirl
his reasons aren't great, basically he thinks the fact margo was never caught before means he never cheated before because if he had boxings high standards would have meant he would have been caught :patsch you regularly see less subtle forms of cheating or poor sportsmanship slip by in boxing, boxings standards and their enforcement tend to be ****.he also claims that margo didn't have plaster but a small bit of some other substance which apparently makes it ok :nut the whole media vilified him and made him a star angle is just ******ed, margo became a big star after he beat cotto that was his defining moment, his fight against mosley sold out the staples and got big hype by hbo.
he claims margo was always a tough puncher because he beat but didn't ko some clubfighter and used to beat dudes up in sparring :-(
he never address why margo was able to wreck cotto like nobody has done before or since, why he fell so far over after he was busted or why he would only load his gloves for the mosley fight which was considered an easy fight for him, he does talk alot about he would fight everyone and was so tough.pathetic from a journalist who is meant to be unbiased and objective

they took him to court for the belt, cause he was mandatory. like I said Marg already had the Cotto fight setup. Everyone told him to ditch the belt and go straight for Cotto, gee insisted on keeping his belt. Man belts now are throwaway, and Williams was considered green and untested.. only one taking a risk was Marg, then what happened Williams scrapes past him and refuses the rematch.. All facts..

Please provide at least one source for this not from Margarito's own management. The reasons most frequently given for no rematch from Top Rank's end in 2008 had nothing to do with Williams denying him a chance, but instead the usual whining about Haymon and unprofessionalism. Which of course is somewhat amusing since the whining in this case was related to the Pavlik-Williams talk and Top Rank would subsequently act LOADS more unprofessionally in negotiating in bad faith for that particular fight and because those complaints about unprofessionalism did not seem to stop their efforts to get Clottey a Williams fight.

And of course if the post-fight presser comments are so important, don't forget Arum's gem about protecting his own fighters in the future.
