This fight could range from very dull to pretty exciting. I tend to go w/ the latter because Jones always came to fight, and other than the fight w/ Terrell, always yielded fantastic results. This is a tough one to call, cuz both had a good deal of triumphs and failures, including several close and disputable losses. I tend to favor Young on size and style, and think that he would really bull Jones around. However, stylistically, Jones was very diverse and perhaps could give Young a hard time whereas Foreman and Ali had one style that Young ran circles around. Jones was both a good puncher and a good boxer and has no chance of getting knocked out by the soft-hitting Young. This could be a split verdict either way, but I see Young winning and more decisively.
Doug Jones was an underrated and mostly forgotten fighter. But he was both crafty and game. Probably should have been a light heavyweight champion. And while he faired ok at heavyweight, Jimmy Young did better. Young would outpoint Doug to a decision
