Any news on Parker vs Browne possible december fight?

 

It was reported last week in the New Zealand media that Team Parker was keen to make an announcement on his next opponent "next week". Translated from boxing-speak that could mean an announcement anywhere from this week to the end of next month. Presumably they see Australian PPV as a decent revenue stream for Parker hence the interest in Lucas Browne as a potential opponent.

So to answer your question, no, not yet.

Horn #1, but who are the other top fighters contending for that "Aussie Fighter of the Year" trophy?

 

Dunno George Kambosas jr perhaps the Maloney twins and maybe Trent Broadhurst if he lands a hail mary on Bivol.

 

Horndog #1 in Australia. Parker #1 in New Zealand.

They're my favourites.

In terms of talent coming through, the best guys should all be in action before the year is out.

I'd expect Damien Hooper (WBO International LH champ) & Dave Toussaint (Aust Middleweight champ) to fight on the Horndog undercard in Brisbane in December.

Jai Opetaia (Aust Cruiser champ) & Tim Tszyu (6-0) both fight this weekend.

Haven't seen enough of the other guys to really rate them.

Quite impressed with George Kambosos.

Lucas Browne fought great in Chechnya early last year but he's likely to be underdone going in against Parker. Hoping he puts up a strong showing which will likely lead to other opportunities irrespective of the result.

 

Put a name up there who's worth watching.

If you've got no interest in any Australian fighter, why are you wasting your time posting on this thread?

 

Update - there's some talk of Parker fighting Zhilei Zhang next in China. Zhang won Olympic silver in 2008.

He holds a regional WBO belt & is rated by them.

By fighting Parker, he frees up the WBO regional belt which Lucas Browne could then fight for to get a world ranking with the WBO.

Really don't know if there's any credence to the story although it does tick a few boxes.
