Mundine got robbed big time. What a performance from a man coming up 4 weight divisions. I doubt we will ever see anyone ever do that again. I was excepting 2-3 round knockout for green being that much bigger but he just couldn't land flush all night!!! Just maybe Mundines greatest performance!!

 

Just watched a dodgy copy on youtube, very uninspiring fight and too be honest, neither deserved to win.

Although the judge scoring it 98-90 was having a laugh

 

I watched the replay. I thought the fight should've been stopped after the Mundine cheap shot in the first. He should have been DQ'd. Good effort by Green to fight on after that though, hats off to him.

 

You've got to be kidding. A man drags a totally shot - previously KTFO - fighter up 4 weight divisions and you're trying to give him credit for taking a dodgy shot and going the distance? GET. THE. ****. OUT.

 

The incident in the first rd can be read a few different ways, yeah it looked like a cheap shot but did the ref actually call break?? I've tried to replay it and listen but it appears the words stop or break were not said. Now remember its the first rd and tensions are high you should protect yourself at all times.

Basically I believe it was similar to PBF situation with Victor Ortiz. Although being controversial it was not illegal and Mundine should not have been deducted a point. If you deduct a point believing it was a clear penalty hitting after the break than the fighter should have been DQ'd. I don't believe this is the case nor a point deduction.

That said, the fight should have been stopped as Green could not continue he was in lala land, he did extremely well to recover and I have no doubt he was concussed or affected for the remainder of the fight although we will never know really.

Overall it was a very close and uninspiring contest, Green won a number of early rds on workmate alone and Mundine clearly finished the better. Mundine should have won the fight but his timing and workrate were off slightly as Green is pretty easy to hit. The scorecard of 98-90 should be investigated and the rd the other judge who scored it 96-94 and rd 7 as 10-10 with a point deduction is crazy as Mundine won the rd so it should be 10-8 meaning he's card should be 94-94 and the fight a majority draw.

I actually backed the draw so maybe i am a little biased....lol

 

I didn't watch & I'm not going to but let's not use Paul Kent as any sort of authority when it comes to boxing.

He's a good RL journo but pitiful when it comes to boxing. This is a guy who was admonishing Geale after his shut-out of Mundine for not stopping him.

He's got no insight whatsoever into boxing.

 

Most regulars on these boxing boards know a million times more than these so called boxing journalists. I'm dead serious.

 

Agreed should not have been a point deduction.

Very good point and i forgot to mention this rd, yes, i agree it was a KD and for some strange reason it wasn't called, that should have been a 10-8rd for Mundine

Rematches round one, ref said let him go which as we all know is not the same as break, should of been a kd awarded to choc, realistically the result is choc ko1 green. 2-0 baby

 

Yes but he is notorious Mundine hater and when he scores it for Mundine you know it's controversial. I only watched a dodgy you-tube copy of the fight and had Green by a point but it was small because maximising it made it unwatchable.
