I remember sugar shane once said he would spit constantly ( or whenever he could ) to lose that bit of fluid. He'd starve himself. Decades ago a few mentioned drinking distilled water to cause dehydration, but that old trick is not common today according to some. UFC fighters use a lot of towells to cover themselves in to sweat heaps. Hot bath's. Sauna's. Training in the sweat shirt while in the sauna and even training in the sauna. I never understood how one could starve themselves and be so weak when you have to be very strong for massive situation. If you can get away with it and it won't affect performance and ability yeah. But many took it to the extreme. I know everyone's different and everyone has their way, but **** I dunno.

Timmy Tszyu comes in about 8 kg's heavier from the weigh in. He's struggled to make weight at times although obviously it hasn't affected him. I'd hate to think about how many guys ****ed their career or world championships due to not cutting weight correctly.

    Erol '' Spents ''

The more recent. And no bias I was roottng for Bud in that fight and I am a fan so all the Terence Nut Huggers can **** right off!

Eubank Sr fasted for up to a week before fights, while still training. That included no water either.

Unbelievable if that’s true. Which I’m uncertain it is.

He definitely did for four days straight before first fight with Watson, and the weigh-in was only 8hrs before the fight itself!

He lost 20lb in seven days to face Calzaghe at short notice.

The spitting to cut weight is as old as boxing. In fact, I remember a lot of guys would chew gum and spit constantly … kept their mouth from completely drying out.

I’ve also heard of fighters in the old days ordering a steak and chewing the meet, swallowing the juices but spitting out the chewed-up meat. I think Duran was one.

I once also knew a fighter who had really long toes and feet. I am not making this up. Before a weigh-in once when he was maybe half a pound over (I had seen him weigh on the way to the weigh-in) he stripped down to his shorts, sans shoes and socks of course, and ‘miraculously’ was half a pound under — winking at me. I asked him later how he did it and he showed me — he stood way to the front of the (doctor’s style) scale, curled his big toes over the front of the scale to the floor and pushed up just a bit, lightening the load he put on the scale. You’ll notice no one ever looks down at anyone’s feet at a weigh-in, haha. Every eye is on the scale.

I recall reading in a biography on Marciano that he chewed steak, consumed the juices and then spat out the meat.

I think I recall reading or hearing that having dehydrated as far as possible and found himself still over weight, Erik Morrales gave blood, as the only means left to rid his body of further fluids and weight, but I can't find a source now.

The most extreme rehydration I'm aware of is Zurdo vs Boesel at 29lbs, weighing a reported 204lbs on fight night at LHW. Difficult to believe - https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.**...boesel-fourth-becomes-mandatory-bivol--166234
