Yep. Disapointed by the media on this weekends boxing. Still great to see Khan get credit for destroying an almost prime MAB. Cut or no cut Khan was schooling him.

    Khan schooled Barerra?

No. He failed to hurt (legally) a 35 year old, 72 fight veteran and will still get KO'd by Prescott, or any decent lightweight. I pray he gets a fight with JMM.

    Not according to the BBC...

"Barrera, 35, suffered a cut to the forehead in the first round of the fight at the MEN Arena and fought virtually with one eye until referee Dave Parris called a halt to proceedings after taking advice from the ringside doctor."

    Report on the fight

Lets not let facts get in the way though. : )

You are right though the British media often show biase toward British sportsmen.

To be fair it was more the callers. I can't remember exactly what was said, but it was sort of the worst of the criticisms he gets on here, call after call. They were pretty harsh and there was not much love there. A Khan love in it certainly was not.

He doesn't appear to much loved in general.

Although the booing he got in the arena was mild compared to poor DeGale when he was introduced prior to the kick-off.

It was on the 6am news on the Sunday that the above statement was said by that idiot sports reporter who sounds like he has the flu. Not on the BBC Website.

I woke up hungover, heard that nonsense and nearly punched the TV!!!

I read the newspaper today and it said two things that had me pissed off.

    "Khan destroyed Barrera"

"Adding to Khan's long list of titles"

Probably because they're British newspapers, check out the Mexican newspapers for Khan criticism.

On 5 live all bar one caller said he should fight Prescott, Marquez etc etc and if he did he would lose. 2 said Barrera had been paid off. The commentator interrupted and talked over anyone saying Khan was poor or his victory meant nothing. They repeated over and over the fact BN tipped Barrera , yet when a caller pointed out 27 of 30 in Boxing Monthly previews picked Khan , they ignored it.

Reading 'The Scotsman' sport section on Sunday this was journalist Phil Barnett's 'learned' summary of the fight:

"[Khan] began the first round in measured fashion and was firing off lightening-quick volleys. Two excellent right hands landed and Barrera also found the target without hurting his man. But Barrera had suffered a cut as he took several hard left hooks and a decent right ended the round with a gash over his left eye."

Phil later laments the end of the fight due to Barrera's cut:

"To the surprise of many ringside the cut was ruled an accidental clash so the fight went to the scorecards, with the classy Khan winning by 50-44 and 50-45 twice."

sheesh what a windbag, what was his source do you reckon? He must have been there to hear the opinions of those 'ringside', the mind boggles, that is why y0utube is so useful for the unabridged truth when it comes to boxing.
