DREAM 15 tonight/early morning

I really think Kawajiri pulls a "Sakurai" on Aoki. I mean Aoki amazed me with the way he disposed of Hansen and Alvarez and overwhelmed JZ wth his jitz, but I see Kawajiri knocking him out after shutting him down in the ground game department.

JZ/Kikuno should be a war but I'm not exactly sure how Kikuno handles Calvancante's grappling. Hopefully he doesn't end up on his back the entire fight.

If O'Brien can avoid Mousasi's stand up I can see him out grappling Mousasi for the decision.

The rest of the card looks entertaining. Ima try to watch live. Is this gonna be a caged event?

 

They've switched permanently to the cage as of thirteen, IIRC.

So nobody else is staying up with me to rock this thing?

 

Only the Ishida and Omigawa fights could be considered filler. Everything else should be exciting.

Very excited to see Amoussou again.

 

With a bit of luck and a lot of quick finishes, we could be calling it a night by dawn.

 

Karl Amoussou vs. Kazuhiro Nakamura, middleweights.

Round 1

KA is off to a good start with a variety of kicks, both standing and leaping. KN patiently waits in a boxing stance. KA loops a couple of punches and goes back to leg work. KN tucks his head down and easily shoots in and flips KA up on his back by his leg. KN holds down the head of KA with his right glove and focuses more on keeping KA from mounting any offense from his guard, only dropping a couple of punches on him, picking spots. KN gets up and then immediately jumps back almost into KA's guard, but they then scramble. 1-2 from KA. KN keeps working the overhand right until he's up in a clinch with KA. They exchange knees and spin, with KN against the turnbuckle. KA tosses KN but his own momentum betrays him as he winds up on bottom as KN doesn't let go of him. KN again stands up in the guard of KA and holds the arms of KA still with his right glove while trying to rain punches down with his left. Again, he chooses to be selective rather than go wild and inaccurate. KN stands straight up and drops quickly down with a left hook. He settles down into the guard and lands another hook from a kneeling position. Big right hand in the nose lands from above on KA. KN pushes forward as KA wraps his legs around the top of his back. KA launches a quick little hook from off his back. KN taps the face of KA with short one-inch punches, forearms, and grazing elbows. KA again tries to get his legs wrapped tight on the middle and upper back of KN. Other than that, there's not much work going on as KN continues to be selective with his punches. They get stood up about a minute later. KA gets a yellow card penalty for inactivity. Huge corkscrew right hand from KN just barely misses. KA begins to kick with his left leg now, quick ones to the thigh and powerful ones up at chin level. Short FLYING KNEE from KA backs KN into the corner. KA clinches him but seems lost as to how to work inside. KA tries to spin around and throw him as before but can't get his weight behind it.

This DREAM is off to a very good start!

 

Nak undoubtedly won, but Karl looked pretty good. He just couldn't avoid Nak's game.

I'm still a fan.

 

Round 2

KN continues to perform cautiously on his feet, contrasted with KA's reckless use of kicks and knees. KN sets up a shoot with an inside thigh kick, and drags KA on one foot to the ropes, then twisting around finally wrenching him down. KN locks his hands around the waist of KA. KN squats up over him and then gets pulled into a near triangle but squeezes free and gets back into KA's closed guard. They exchange a few punches in between attempts to stand up and get in GNP position from KN. They are stood up again, and KA receives another yellow card. KN begins to work a jab, and then lands a double hook to the body and chin, and takes the stunned KA down with ease. KN mauls him sparingly from the top in the dwindling moments.

Decent opener.

 

Ishida/DJ.taiki went as expected.

Round 1

Immediate explosion of a TD from Ishida, and starts to pass for side control ride away. DJ unable to work effectively as Ishida controls his head with his right arm while pushing up and seizing the positions he wants...into side control...then basically forcing his way halfway into the mount, and finally getting into something close to a crucifix position, then hammerfists, then an armbar, and DJ slips out and scrambles up. DJ tries to crack him with a left hook or front kick. Ishida runs in with a hook of his own and gets kicked down to his butt, springing right back up. Ishida then rocks forward off his heels and bowls DJ right over. Back in the guard, Ishida punches DJ in the face with calm efficiency. DJ gets up for a moment after a series of upkicks when Ishida stands over him, but it doesn't last long as his sprawl is basically ripped out from under him and he's back on his back. Ishida continues to control DJ on the ground and eventually gets his back, in position to possibly convert into a RNC. DJ is able to flip to his back and start kicking up at Ishida, scrambles, and is immediately nose-tackled once more. Ishida again gets his back, and starts heeling him in the upper leg from behind. Ishida in side control lands a rabbit knee, unseen by the ref.

Round 2

More workmanlike takedowns and GNP from Ishida. DJ punches off his back and upkicks desperately. Ishida cleverly rolls DJ in the corner from his guard to basically upside down, and takes his back. DJ flips but Ishida squashes him down to the mat, chest to chest while DJ thrashes beneath him. DJ manages to kick Ishida off of him by the throat and then lands a wild uppercut to drop Ishida. DJ tries to counter Ishida on the way in but gets taken down, with Ishida in a headlock. Ishida is bleeding profusely from his left ear, dribbling all over the ring. DJ intelligently rubs his glove, forearm and elbow against the gory ear of Ishida.

Ishida, unanimous.

 

Jung proves once again that Koreans are tough as ****. It was a total mismatch, but he put up a respectable fight.

 

Michihiro Omigawa vs. Jong Young Sam

Round 1

Omigawa boxes and moves. The lanky and heavily tattooed JYS chases him down with jabs and right hands. JYS dropped by a hard jab and Omigawa leaps to his side, dropping serious hammerfists. JYS weathers it, and grabs the forearm of Omigawa. JYS has his throat taken in his guard, and Omigawa rolls past his head and gets him in a guillotine. JYS somehow escapes the tight hold and regains his feet, still with Omigawa's arm firmly around his neck. Omigawa DDT's JYS. (I know, not a technical MMA term) :yep They languish in position with Omigawa on top for a while, but don't get stood up. JYS nearly shocks Omigawa with an armbar attempt that Omigawa rips free of at the last second! JYS is spitting blood from the earlier barrage of hammerfists, breathing through his mouth. They are told to stand while Omigawa is hooking into the body of JYS. Omigawa fires a straight jab through a flurry by JYS. Omigawa slips and counters, coming forward like a tank and rips JYS down after tagging him clean across the ring. Omigawa stands up leans over JYS, and flicks his glove into his face. Omigawa effortlessly drops into side control and rains hammerfists to the abdomen of JYS with his free right while his left is curled around the Korean's throat. JYS taps out to the choke as Omigawa leans up.

 

Melvin Manhoef vs. Tatsuya Mizuno

Round 1

MM swings freely with both hands, and TM shoots after a minute of getting outbombed. He can't get MM off his feet, and winds up eating another platter of leather. A pair of right hands crumples TM, and MM jumps into his guard. Big time hammerfists come down. Mizuno controls the arms of Manhoef and digs his heels into his hips. Mizuno goes for a sub but quickly abandons it. Manhoef backs off and they stand again. Manhoef takes a lead left hand and is backed into the ropes as Mizuno pushes him into a clinch. They tumble down off the bottom rope and Mizuno winds up in the guard of Manhoef. They are moved to the center of the ring in the same position, and Mizuno starts bringing punches down to Manhoef's head. Mizuno in side control, grabs the hand and goes for a kimura, and Manhoef snubs it. Knee to the temple from Mizuno and another kimura attempt. Manhoef takes a knee while trying to free his hand. Another knee. Mizuno keeps turning him and then rolls, goes for an armbar, and Manhoef reverse and GNP's Mizuno! A three punch combo has Manhoef off-balance, and he gets pounded into the bottom of the turnbuckle by Mizuno - Manhoef's eyes looked like they rolled back in his head for a moment! Mizuno twists his arm behind his back and taps him out.
