DREAM: DREAM EP Sasahara revealed the current plan for the DREAM Lightweight title at the press conference. Joachim Hansen will face Shinya Aoki for the title at DREAM.10. The winner of that fight will then defend the belt against the winner of Kawajiri vs. J.Z. on NYE. WVR/SENGOKU: WVRs Kokuho revealed some future SENGOKU title plans today after the opening training session of Makoto Takimoto. He said that Kazunori Yokota, Leonardo Santos, or Mizuto Hirota will most likely face Satoru Kitaoka in a title fight in August. It depends on who wins and how they win.
On the plus side I also read somewhere that Melvin Manhoef was coming back to MMA to compete in the next DREAM event.:happy:happy Yeah, their roster is poor. LW is their best division though with a few well known faces. But they're just doing a round robin now.
Its just the same merrygoround of their usual fighters. There stable is pretty thin. Hopefully DREAM can become the powerhouse that PRIDE once was but that may be just a pipe dream. Would be good if they could work closer with WAMMA. And i would so love for Melvin to come to the UFC. Can you imagine the havoc he would wreak at 205/185? :love
:yep Melvin would blow through some of those MWs. Him vs Silva would be a great fight. DREAM getting to the state that PRIDE once was is very unlikely I think. Unless they can entice Affliction's HW roster over and perhaps dig up some gems from somewhere. I miss PRIDE.:verysad
Remember what Silva did to Rich Franklin in there first bout? Melvin would have made that nose to a whole 360. And Affliction is just as poor. There roster is too thin. Fedor and Barnett are there only real trump cards.
Dream will be big again because if they keep doing Grand Prix good fighter will emerge from nowhere, no one had ever heard of Chuck liddell before he won the GP. Also the best fighters can go freelance because they don't need UFC or Affliction promotion.
Only the Japanese orgs run GP's. As far as im concerned there the pinnacle and life blood of the sport. The fighters will go where the most money and the best fighters are. Unfortunately thats not DREAM.
