If you gave this challenge to the actual Don King, his fantasy card would probably look more like:

    - Jeffries vs Johnson

    - Louis vs Schmeling

    - Holmes vs Cooney

    - Knoetze vs Ali

    - Coetzee vs Bernard Hopkins

    Followed by a battle royal.

Enjoyed reading that. Totally agree power ends up the likely difference between Moore and Qawi much as it did with Spinks. You just can't take as many liberties against guys that sport that sort of power and also perform at an ATG level.

Agree with you and McGrain on Spinks - Charles. It would be a fight trending toward not making mistakes tho Spinks would certainly let a bit hang out if he thought he was behind late. A great fight for the purists.

Disagree on Tyson beating Foreman but sure not silly enough to think it can't happen. For me Tyson can't get forward enough and loses effectiveness. I think Foreman is one of very very few who could severely test his resolve at his best.

Great thread and you and McGrain throwing out predictions makes it even better. I will do another tonight my time.

OK, I'll give it a go.

Dave 'Boy' Green v Colin Jones - welterweight - 10 rounds
Bennie Briscoe v Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter - middleweight - 10 rounds
Ken Norton v Oscar Bonavena - heavyweight - 12 rounds
Archie Moore v Victor Galindez - light heavyweight - 15 rounds
Muhammad Ali v Rocky Marciano - heavyweight - 15 rounds

I've always been partial to the Frazier v Marciano matchup, but as it has been picked already, I went with the next best one.

Don King had a rather specific target audience.

The order is kind of scuffed as in who would be paid what. But I just like the look of the placement. @McGrain

    Main Event- Chang vs Finito
Chief Support- Jeff Fenech vs Fighting Harada
Undercard 1- Sung Kil Moon vs Jiro Wantabe
Undercard 2- Emile Griffith vs Wilfredo Benítez
Undercard 3- Bennie Briscoe vs Bernard Hopkins

    1. Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Thomas Hearns - Junior Middleweight title fight, 15 rounds
Am I out of line to suggest that this is a tossup in which either fighter learns from his mistakes from their original encounter at 147. On one hand, I see a stronger and more experienced Hearns boxing his way to a unanimous decision victory (9-6, 8-6-1?) despite some shaky moments to see him on rubbery legs. On the other, I can also see SRL once again having Hearns in trouble during the middle rounds, but instead of letting him off the hook, finishes him with an 8th round TKO instead.

    2. Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Michael Nunn - Middleweight title fight 15 rounds
If James Toney can put the ‘lights out’ on Michael Nunn then why couldn’t SRR do the same but faster- 7th or 8th round TKO rather than 11th.

    3. Gennady Golovkin vs. Felix Trinidad - Middleweight, 12 rounds
Iron chinned and iron fisted GGG against one of the greatest offensive fighters in welterweight history. No doubt, ‘Tito’ pushes GGG - whose face is decidedly marked post fight - but GGG lands too many telling blows for the fight to go past 9 or 10 rounds.

    4. Donald Curry vs. Carlos Palomino - Welterweight, 10 rounds
Yes, the prime 85 version of Curry, who sleekly boxes his way to a unanimous decision (7-3) against a determined albeit overmatched opponent.

    5. Joe Louis vs. Butterbean - Heavyweight, 10 rounds
The ‘Brown Bomber’ is incensed at having to fight on the undercard, insisting he should be facing prime versions of either Marciano, Liston or Frazier in one of the co-main events instead. Louis, nevertheless, goes ahead with the fight and leaves Butterbean flat on his back a bloody mess after three rounds, albeit not without having to get off the canvas to do so (if Tony Galento can put Louis down then why not Butterbean).

Butterbean is a fine budget option for a nostalgia card. Throw in Gatti/Ward, Emmanuel Augustus versus a guy who's about to rob him on the scorecards, Shannon Briggs knocking out some random 10-0-1 no hope novice, and all you need is the fifth fight with the actual top fighters.

It would have to include Barbados Joe Walcott vs Mickey Walker!
