Hello guys, I'm 16 from the UK and I've been passionate about unarmed combat all my life. Ever since I can remember I was always hitting a bag or shadow boxing at home, or staying up late to watch the superfights in the US. In September this year, after realising the importance of doing something you enjoy and fulfilling your heart, I've finally decided to start working towards my goals of becoming a professional boxer and MMA fighter. The routine I've began to follow is: Monday: Heavybag - 6x3min rounds Speed ball - 6x3min rounds Pads - 6x3min rounds Boxing sparring - 3x5min rounds Weight training - 6x3 on all compounds (Squats, Deadlifts, Bench and OHP) Tuesday: Ashtanga yoga - 75min class 3 mile run (moderate pace/heavy jog) Wednesday: Heavybag - 6x3min rounds Speed ball - 6x3min rounds Pads - 6x3min rounds Boxing sparring - 3x5min rounds BJJ - 2hour session Thursday: Early morning sprints (roughly one hour) MMA sparring and wrestling - 1 hour session BJJ - 2 hour session Friday: Heavybag - 6x3min rounds Speed ball - 6x3min rounds Pads - 6x3min rounds Boxin sparring - 3x5min rounds BJJ - 2hour session Saturday: MMA sparring - 3x5min rounds Boxing sparring - 3x5min rounds Weight training - 6x3 on all compounds (Squats, Deadlifts, Bench and OHP) Sunday: Rest In February I'm going to begin incorporating NO-GI grappling and Muay Thai training. In addition to this, I'm dropping my normal compound training for sessions with a local olympic lifting coach, who can assist me more with functional full body movements and sport specific plyometrics. I understand my schedule is a little scrambled and imbalanced at the moment (and believe me I feel it haha) but I know for sure that as time progresses it'll begin to schedule itself more evenly and efficiently. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated. For anybody interested, I'm wanting to have both my amateur boxing debut and amateur MMA debut around July this year, and between that time also enter some grappling competitions for additional experience. Thanks!
Regardless what training you are doing it is worth noting that neither the ABA not the BBBoC will allow you to compete in another combat sport at the same time as being an active boxer. If MMA is where you wan't to be then all well and good but if boxing is where you want to go then train specifically for boxing and drop the grappling and kicking.
Why do you want to become a pro boxer if you're doing muay thai and plan on going to MMA? You do realize pro boxers transition into MMA and learn muay thai and or kickboxing for striking? Another thing is the ridiculous amount of information you're going to take in if you're starting all of these things at the same time. Last thing is money. With what you're looking at doing, you're going to be spending around £150 per month on memberships alone. Hope you have a nice bit of cash at 16. Pick a single martial art, stick to it for a few years and work it out from there.
