A fight that never happened, but would have been great, in my opinion, is the 1982 versions of Ray Mancini and Cornelius Boza-Edwards. Let's imagine it is October 1982. Ray Mancini has recently annexed the WBC Lightweight title with a quick KO of Art Frias. Boza has decisioned Robert Elizondo. Both are contracted to CBS. The NFL Football strike has just started, and the network needs a quality matchup to fill the ratings void. Who wins and why?

Mancini. He was just a bigger, stronger man than Boza and a little underrated as a boxer. Boza engaged in wars and took a lot of punches to give in return. That would be his undoing against Mancini. Mancini TKO 11.

Mancini would be a little too much for Boza, but it would be a war up until the 13th round stoppage.

All action fight. Boza getting the better of the action. sad to say( as I really liked Boza). He takes too many shots & is worn down by the bigger & stronger Mancini. Mancini in the 12th or 13th. TKO.

I agree with the others. I wouldn't necessarily say Mancini had any problem with southpaws, because while Romero gave him fits, he pretty much shut out Ramirez. No real reason to think that would be a factor, so all other things being equal, size and strength rule the day.

Mancini by stoppage around the 10th, give or take.

    Corneilus Boza-Edwards was a 'warrior'.
But he took way too many punches.
The earlier version of Ray Mancini (81'/82'/83') would have worn him down,
    probably TKO in 12.

But, I still have visions of George Feeney wobbling 'Boom Boom' back in
    February 1983.
